Would you use single shot for Dangerous Game?

Only if it charged you. LOL
I have been charged by a rabbit
We were walking across a warren and I mis-stepped and trod in a hole up to my thigh and a rabbit came charging at me, I had a rifle in my right hand and managed to grab the rabbit by the scruff of its neck, my two friends just stood there and laughed at me…..I could have been killed, that rabbit was going for the throat….i swear it…honest …

Death be waiting for you with ity bitty teeth

why would your PH shoot your animal? are you not capable of dealing with your own game? o_O

if my PH shoots my animal, it better be because i had zero chance of stopping it. if there was even the slightest chance i could stop the animal then i expect the PH to let me do my job. the day i feel im no longer capable of dealing with something going wrong on my hunt is the day i quit hunting DG.

as for using a single shot rifle on DG, i wouldnt recommend it. you might be skilled enough to reload the rifle quickly but alot can go wrong in the heat of the moment.

@matt85 - Agree Matt and I had specific conversations with my PH/Buff hunt and Guide in Alaska/Griz hunt on how he would handle things if my animal required a 2nd shot. Both said “unless your animal is posing a danger or is about to ‘get away, thick cover etc..” they would not shoot Unless absolutely necessary. Both also said “some Hunters” prefer them to shoot IMMEDIATELY after they fired their first shot and didn’t really care “who’s bullet” actually killed the animal. That would ruin any trophy for me, I fully understand and Expect my Guide to shoot if I make a poor shot AND the animal might get away and/or put others at risk —— but allowing me the time to place a 2nd or 3rd shot into it (if needed) is reasonable under many circumstances. It is a personal choice by the Hunter and a “conversation” that should be had with the Guide well in advance. The Guide in Alaska also said a few times his Hunter “missed” completely and it was the Guide that actually killed the Griz —— some Hunters don’t care and I’m guessing that part of the “story” goes UNtold when they get back home !

@Grumpy gumpy with a classic old rifle like that it counts and the charging rabbit I am sitting here with spilled coffee laughing and remembering Monty Python's rabbits.

The only acceptable weapon for attack rabbits is the holy hand grenade of Antioch

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!
