You want to buy something special, you want to treat yourself, what rifle do you buy?

I’m looking at a Mesa in .308

My only dislike with the Christensen is they come with a smallish bolt knob… easily replaced though for about $50…

I took a spike this morning with the 308 mesa … it’s a dream to shoot… drilled him exactly where I put the crosshairs…

I got lucky… I found mine on the used rack at scheels.. with zero evidence it had ever been fired… not a single scratch on the bolt.. stock was perfect… all cerakote still perfect, etc… $800….

Supposedly they are discontinuing the standard mesa.. you’ll still be able to get a mesa fft (super light stock) new from the factory… so the major retailers have been dropping prices.. and the used market is taking a little bit of a dive… which was wonderful for me lol…

I don't know that I have ever really considered this question. That said, since coming to this site, I have come to really like the custom rifles by Bradshaw. Also, as a lever action afficionado I would love to own something from Bighorn Armory.

I purchased this 45-70 recently in honor of a very dear hunting friend 'Pete' that passed a few years ago way too young. He had a #1 45-70 and loved it for deer & bear in Pennsylvania. I've worked up some great reloads with 350 grain Swift A-Frames for bear season this coming Saturday and then deer season in a few weeks. I'm looking forward to taking the gun and memories of him into the woods this year....Rest peacefully my dear friend....

You’re going to think I’m crazy for responding with something so pedestrian…

But the next time I treat myself it will be with another Christensen Arms rifle…

I’ve got two at the moment… one in 308 and another in 300 prc… both are absolute tack drivers.. have super smooth actions.. and are perfectly balanced for me right out of the box…

I bought the first one on a bit of a whim… but after shooting it a few months I very intentionally sought out the next one..

They aren’t mutch to look at.. cerakote and Kevlar…

But man do they shoot!
The Christensen Ridgeline might be the best naturally fitting rifle I've ever shouldered when it comes to a modern off-the-shelf production rifle. It's just hard to justify the ~2k for a rifle that I don't need. Kind of a shame that Scheel's seems to be phasing them out of inventory (unless it's just a lull). :)

What's crazy is that the rifle that came in a close 2nd to that is the old Remington 30 Express that I bought there a few weeks ago.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
