Your average shooting distance in your hunting-property ?

...............I'm pretty sure I that in a pinch I could hunt them by dropping a cinder block on their heads if I wanted to.

How many grains in your cinder block?

..........

Some far (about 1000yds down to the creek and don't forget that if you go down you have to come back up again)

...............

or ride that boat out on that river.

On the level it does not seem so far. Put elevation into the equation and damn is that is a looooong way down.
Nothing like perspective.

I live in the part of Wy that has few trees. Usually 200-400 yds is common. Longest was 563 a few yrs ago. Bruce

Or the last 10 years my shots are between 200 yds and 375 yds.

Hunting in the mountains of NZ over the last 8 years my average shot is 350 ish yards. Closest was 30, furthest was 638yds. This is on red deer, fallow deer, chamois and tahr.

I don't like hunting animals over the 100m mark , however I have taken out to 380m .

it is good to know where your rifle shoots at different distances.

I'm surpised, that you fellows in USA have short distances or -for me- extremly wide .
Not so much in the middle.
When you wound a deer,or something, is a dog for search there in your hunting property,or are you do it only by yourself ?
Please, don't forget to to write over your gun, bullet, scope etc.
It's very interesting to see, how are hunter working in the other parts of our world.
Here my widest shot-but only a roedeer -slice on 300 m.
Sako Gun -Swarowski scope 8x56 .
.223 Rem
My scope crosshair is to thick for these distances.
@stug and other snipers:
do you have a shootout on the game on 500yds ?
