Your favorite 2 rifle and 1 shot gun combination

300 H&H in Pre-64 Winchester Model 70
375 H&H in pre-64 Winchester Model 70
12 Gauge Belgian Browning Model A5

I own and have extensive experience hunting with and shooting each of these. If I had to have only these three hunting arms, I have no doubt they would serve me well.

Win 70 Safari Express in 375HH.
Ruger 77 in 6.5CR.
Remington 870 in 12 gauge.
All have proven themselves many times.

Lovely! I have a recently refurb Belgian Auto 5 that I need to shoot...

My choice is pretty standard

PG - 9.3 x 62 Mauser 98 FN commercial, 23 " barrel with 286 nosler partitions, 293 Peregrine VRG1 solids, 286 hydros

DG and stopper (just about) - 404 Jeff Mauser 98 FN commercial, 26 " barrel with 400 grain Peregrine VRG1 solids, 400 grain Peregrine VRG3, 400 grain hydros, 450 grain Norma soft points

Camp shot gun (in case of snakes) - Mossberg 590 pump

- 7x57 mm Mauser ( a BRNO ZKK - 600 )
- .458 Winchester Magnum ( my Winchester Enfield Model 1917 action custom piece )
- My Laurona 12 bore side-lock ejector double barreled side by side shotgun

Great question! My favorite battery is my pre 64 model 70 in 300 H&H loaded with 200 grain A-frames, my 416 Rigby big game with 400 grain A-frames, and my 12 bore Westley Richards droplock. Both the rifles have been to Africa, but the shot gun has not. When I brought a shotgun to Africa it was my Parker VH.

300 win mag 180 grain Nosler Partions in a heavily customized Remington 700

375 H&H 300 grain Swift Aframes in a Remington 700.

12 Gauge Remington 870. It’s old but always gets the job done.

My choice fits into one case and is one I have taken on all three of my trips to Africa. It is a Krieghoff "Teck" boxlock O/U double rifle in caliber .458 Winchester Magnum, with extra barrel sets in .375 H&H Magnum and 20 gauge 3" Magnum. With it I have taken elephant, Cape buffalo, lion, leopard, eland, greater and lesser kudu and a heap of ducks, sand grouse and Guniea fowl.

Mauser 98 in .404 J by Reto Buehler
Henry Atkin 12 bore self opener from 1930

But I do have alternatives, if needed.

+1 Great to deal with. I purchased custom rifle. No issues.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?
