2015 turned out to be one of our best seasons at Munya in the time I have been there. We really took some good trophies and ended up with a 41inch average on buffalo for the year.

This year I also conducted a few hunts on our neighboring properties Nyamvu and Nyakolwe as well as in West-Petauke Luembe GMA.

The three private properties (Munyamadzi, Nyamvu and Nyakolwe) lay on the eastern bank of the Luangwa River. It is amazing to see how these private properties have succeeded with wildlife conservation. The increases in wildlife numbers are astonishing.

We now all work together between the reserves on our anti-poaching. Last month the scouts from Nyamvu managed to apprehend one of the most notorious elephant poachers in the area. He has been escaping all of us for several years and was responsible for the poaching of over 100 elephant in the Lower Luangwa. The poacher was sentenced with 15 year in prison!
Fortunately we have very little problems with snare poaching. Our areas are patrolled too intensely for this to be productive for the poachers. Our main problems are muzzleloader poachers who poach for meat and obviously the serious elephant poachers.
In general the poaching is minimal on the private lands and is the main reason that that the wildlife numbers are increasing rapidly.
It a privilege for me to be part of all this, and especially since I grew up in the area and have been able to see the improvements from when I was a child and up to now. If we are allowed to continue are projects, the Lower Luangwa, will in the near future become one of Africa’s top destination for big game hunting safaris.
My first hunt of the season took me to Nyakolwe. It was almost twenty summers and winters since I last set foot on Nyakolwe. Back then it was with my old man and it was here I got my passion for hunting. Little did I know it then but it was also here I spent my first birthday.
Things had changed a great deal but it was great to be back and the wildlife in the area is thriving. The hunting on Nyakolwe is operated by Ebony Safaris. Nyakolwe is the largest of the three private reserves and covers 50,000 hectares.

My client Pavel took some great trophies on Nyakolwe as you can see on the photos below.

The next hunt we had would be on Munyamadzi itself. Here my clients were Stefan and Kjell from Norway and PH Sarge Karim was second PH and hunted with Kjell.

Munyamadzi is famous for it's DIY Pizza

After the swedish team I was brought back to Nyakolwe to do another buff with Mr. Niessen.
On the first day we took this great buff.

Then back to Munyamadzi where I had the pleasure of hunting with with D.Unger. On the same time Rick and his daughter Nicole hunted with another PH. They also took some magnificent trophies and were fortunate enough to shoot their buffalo on the same time. A true farther daughter buffalo hunt.

Dave's buff was taken on the neighboring Nyamvu about 10 km up river from our camp.

Our late season Group hunt was a big success

Richard with his Puku

Tall man with long hair and warthog

One of Richards Impalas

Faisal's Bushbuck

Toms Puku

Faisal's old Roan that we tracked far into the hills before catching up with him.

Hope you all enjoyed it, and look forward to another great season!
