Well, I have lions in the Kalahari next month. With the sandy ground, I don't expect anything near as difficult as this from a tracking standpoint. If it is anywhere near as rewarding as this experience has been, I will be a happy camper.

I have just returned from a 21 day hunt and will return again to the bush on Monday for another 2 weeks . Thank you kindly for your detailed hunt report. it is always a pleasure when clients leave satisfied , I think most PH's strive to have positive results especially those that work for themselves . Congrats on a well earned trophy. A trophy if different things to different people. That also changes with experience. In general the the harder you work for an animal the better the "trophy", that is, the memory will become. The size of your elephants tusks are not the question. The time, effort, expertise, blood sweat and tears are what makes a elephant like this into a true trophy. Thanks so much for sharing. I was starting to worry that it wasn't going to happen for you. Not sure how I got so involved in toy gig. Maybe I really want a set but I found these locally. Mike I know you are in Africa now and stopped by Cambanos earlier this week. If you need any of these, let me know

I did not go to Cambanos. Instead, I went to Safari Outfitters. I got the kids a wonderful book of all the African mammals. It is very thorough, has photos of both the male and female of each species and even has a "wand" that will recognize the photo you point to and play the sound of that animal. Amazing book. Cost just under $100.

At the airport, I found 4 baby animals that we didn't have, a baby giraffe, hippo, blue wildebeest and cheetah. I picked up all four.

Those are some nice animals. Maybe you should just get them?
