Agree with all of the above. I suggest a phone conversation with the PH . If you have the budget and want to add 10-12 animals they may work with you on pricing. The price lists of animals on donation hunts are much more expensive per animal as they are trying to make up for the daily fees...

Good morning Paul, I have and have owned many 77s - including 7x57, no notable problems with any of them. Some shoot under 1/2” and some 1” but none are terrible. Buy the Ruger 7x57 and see how it shoots. Not sure I’d pay $4K for one…. Is it a custom job? Most are $1K or so.

I use the Murray open top anytime I’m putting ammo on my belt (usually buff hunts) but also have one for my 270 and 30-06 for PG. I don’t think I’d care for a closed top - I want to get ammo quick. I never used one in N.A. Prior to hunting Africa- just threw a couple in my pocket if needed...

I’m with @Hogpatrol - I think there was a scope mount failure. If your first shot was on paper, the scope could have jumped up just enough to unseat it, guessing the rear ring due to the bent screw. This could cause your second shot to actually hit high - then the rearward recoil launched that...

Swaro Z6 1-6 with red dot reticle - great all round scope for hunting

Swaro Z3 or Z5 with BRH reticle - preferably 36mm bell, if not then the 42mm bell. I prefer my scopes to be bright, easy/fast to use (BRH reticle and not a turret) and mounted low to help with a fast and repeatable cheek weld. Also a fan of Zeiss or Kahles. Lots of good options out there but...

I wouldn’t want to shoot both at once - unless the situation called for it out of necessity. The stalk is the fun part, sneaking up to 20-30 yards without being detected is what gets the adrenaline going.
