350gr ttsx in 416

Tried reloading? Gives you lots of options.
Two things. One, I don’t reload. Second, I wrote that when I had a 416RM which I no longer do.

Sticking to a 375H&H with 300 grain Barnes TSX factory loaded for nearly all endeavors. ;)

Between the 350gr TTSX and 400gr TSX there probably isn’t much practical difference. I used a 400 gr TSX on my one and only Buffalo. One shot, through the shoulder, quartering towards us. It shed 3 of 4 petals, but took out the near shoulder and penetrated well. This resulted in a very uneventful recovery.

For buffalo and maybe hippo, I’d favor the 400 at 2400 fps, just because it’s a tried and true recipe. I wouldn’t hesitate an instant to use the 350 TTSX though.
Thanks for the info, am gonna try these in my 416WSM wildcat for moose.

Too bad, makes loading big guns cheaper and great if you like odd calibers like me, Happy Huntin.

Thanks! I looked at those, but have not tried them yet. I have shot 150 rounds of the 350 grain speer mag tips. In my taylor improved I reached 2700 fps with no pressure, but settled on 2610 fps for accuracy. I originally chose this bullet because I figured it was probably the softest 416 bullet available, and would work on deer pretty decent. Cant find them now, so i may look at finding the 340 PP as a replacement.
Only shot 1 animal (Deer) with my 416WSM, 350gr Speer bullets, 35 yds, worked fine but no expansion. I would stick with the Speers for small animals, don’t think the Barnes TTSX would expand at all, maybe pigs?
Happy Huntin.

I’m hunting Buffalo next year, and my PH recommended the 350 TSX or TTSX. I’m still not sure which bullet I’ll use.

I’m just talkin about deer, I know nothing of Africa, listen to your PH. I’m gonna try 416 TTSX on moose, hopefully.
This site is a great source for big bore ammo experience.

The 350s extends the range on the 416 Rigby (y)

I’m sure the 350s will be enough for moose. Good luck!!

I think the .416 TTSX would be an excellent bullet for moose. I have killed a couple with the 350 TSX and one with the 350 TTSX. Both are accurate in my rifles. The TTSX, of course has a bit better bc. No complaints as to bullet performance with either.

I am going to try the CEB 325 grain Maximus next. Though zero issues with the Barnes. The Maximus should have a bc somewhat close to the TTSX and provide a bit more case capacity.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
