Any gin drinkers here?

I love gin.
G&T is my go to drink before dinner.
As far brands all the above mentioned are good however we have a local distillery in NC called Conniption and their award winning navy strength is absolutely amazing.
As far as SA, I'll come up with some suggestions and pics later..

Pretty extensive research in the single malt whisky area. At one time I had at least 25 bottles on the shelf. Seeing as it's so early right now, I'm thinking Ardbeg Cask Strength with eggs, sausage, sautéed potatoes and brown gravy for breakfast. Although Laphroaig Quarter Cask is looking good as well. ;)

Each of the five regions of Scotland produce a distinctive regional taste. With each distillery in that region providing their own unique flavor profile. With all due respect, the level of refinement in single malt scotch whisky is far beyond American bourbon, rye or whiskey. Don't get me wrong, there are some excellent American style whiskies, but they are not a good comparison to each other. Placing them in the same category is an insult to both.
I've been listening to the podcast called WhiskyCast for a long time now. I really wish I liked single malts and Scotch whisky but I really don't. I do have a bottle of Glenmorangie D'Or unopened in case a Scotch drinking friend passes by. As to bourbon, I easily have over 50 different ones in the house right now.

I've heard of it but never tried it. At the other end of the state, in Asheville, we have Chemist which is very good.

I had a friend in the Navy who said he had a 12 year bottle of Scotch. Turns out he had an unopened bottle of 3 year old blended scotch that was 9 years old. It was difficult to break the news to him that it doesn't age after taking it out of the barrel. However, it was the 80's and 90's so it's not like Google was at his fingertips.

We opened the bottle that night and compared it to a single malt Highland I had at the house. It opened his eyes to a larger world in tasting whisky.

Sporadic I drink a gin tonic. I like the old Dutch gins ( Oude jenever) . If you can get your hands on those they are good value for the money.

But mostly I drink whiskey and rums.

Gin and tonic is my go-to cocktail. I did a tasting several years ago and found that The Botanist Gin makes the best GT, while Hendricks makes the best Martini. Hendricks has a little too much juniper for a good GT. Equally important, however, is the tonic. Q Tonic is by far the best tonic. It's dry and makes a perfect GT with a wedge of fresh lime. The ingredients say that they use agave nectar as the sweetener. I've tried Fever Tree, Schwepps and lots of the others, but believe me Q is the best. (the stuff that bartenders squirt out of hose behind the bar is disgusting) Q is a little hard to find, but available in good liquor stores. In Dallas it's at Pogo's and Goody Goody and sometimes at Whole Foods. Try it and you will thank me.

This one is close to Pretoria and owned by a lady. Pretty decent and worth a visit for Gin lovers.

Another interesting one from South Africa.

G&T is my favorite drink. My go to gin is Beefeater. I love South African Kwv Cruxland and Mombasa Club when I can find them. In Colombia, I normally drink Gordon's or Tanqueray because they are easier to find and generally the cheapest. Fever Tree Light is my preferred tonic.

Mama loves gin with orange juice and tonic or club soda. She calls it her G-mosa.

Safe travels

You can get Q delivered straight from Amazon. It is actually a little less costly than Fever Tree which I also like. Both beat anything you can buy in 1L bottles at the grocery store.

Any mixer in a litre bottle or any plastic bottle goes flat as soon as you open it...or even before.....
