Argentina Exporter Raided Trophies Seized

I doubt you hurt anyone’s feelings, but you sure misunderstood MG’s comments. They were simply providing on the ground intel in an attempt to help you and others caught in this situation. You reciprocated with an insult.
Yes I did misunderstand I guess and I apologize. I didn't know MG was a top outfitter and not one of the expert saturday am TV watching squirrel hunters that post a lot. It was clearly not Red Stags only given the nature of the seizures, and I had just heard 'on the ground' info very differently that turned out to be very accurate. I'm sure local TV showed mostly stags because that's the most visible and identifiable trophies. I only posted this info to help others. Ask me about the gun import laws in England, if you've got 2 hours (British Air has different rules than Heathrow, and within Heathrow, Terminal E has different rules than the other big int'l terminal). Again, I've used this site for years and only decided to post to help others with what I believed to be very accurate and up to date info, which I believe it was. Cheers.

I have had a lot of trophies shipped over the years and had my share of losses. I have a lion coming from Zambia now and the taxidermist there told me most of his clients are insuring their lion trophies which covers it from his shop to my taxidermist. I have never done this before, but did it this time as lions have become so expensive, I thought I should pay for the extra coverage.
Can you share who you used to insure, and how did you vet them? Replying to your post instead of a PM because it's getting to a point we will have to insure to cover us.

Mine never made it to the "insure" phase. They had just been delivered by my outfitter for pre transit prep (tan hides/bleach skulls). Was going all European mounts except for a full mount Blackbuck I was going to have done in the States. I had just emailed my outfitter to ask him if my stuff had made it to the local taxidermist when he told me about the raid/seizure. I went on this site to find info and got a bit peeved when I read the "theories", and not facts. Of course the Argentinian outfitters posting rightfully are downplaying any problems (it's their livelihood and not their fault) and the folks who hunted there years ago that didn't have problems don't get it...Oh well, fingers crossed, it really is a fantastic place to hunt. And Buenos Aires vs. Jo'berg for before after,...no comparison.

I’m getting word that an exporter used by a number of outfitters was raided and many legally hunted trophies have been seized.

I went on a hunt in Patagonia in March. I got stuck with a terrible guide(long story, not sure I have the energy to write about it, and the outfitter made it right as far as I’m concerned).

All my friends on the trip had a great hunt and took a number of animals.

My friend got word from another hunter in camp that all their trophies have been seized.

I’m posting the screenshot I have. I will update when I have some better info about the situation.

Any of our Argentinian sponsors have any insight about this situation? View attachment 627430View attachment 627431

@MG Hunting thank you for the explanation and updates.
It appears that the situation is out of your control. I am sure you understand that lots of folks (including myself) are understandably concerned about the status of their trophies. Hopefully this all gets resolved sooner than later…

@Caza y Safaris Argentina would you please give us an update since it appears that you are at the center of all this….

I hunted with Caza & Safaris in July and have four trophies confiscated in this raid. If you are an SCI member and client of Caza & Safaris please DM me as I have contacted a lawyer in Argentina. Thx

The taxidermist that handled the pack/dip and ship from Zambia organized the insurance. I'm sorry I don't know who the company is but will look into it. The Lion is in Texas, awaiting USF&W clearance.

Hello to everyone.

Right now there is not much to update rather than that the legal process it´s going on favor of Federico and Caza & Pampa by the moment. We are all waiting that the judge drops the charges so we can all get back to the exportation of the trophies.
Most of the Outfitters that are working together to get back the trophies agreed that the best way to procedure with the restitution of the trophies is to wait until the case is clarified as doing other thing will just delay the legal procedures.
There is one small outfitter that have a small amount of trophies on one of Federico´s warehouses that present himself asking for the restitution of his trophies about 1 month ago and didn’t have any answer by the moment.
We are also keeping an eye on that as if he has any success we would of course present ourselves the same way.

If you have any doubt please get in touch.

Best Regards,

Manuel Gil.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.
