There are presently a lot of outstanding deals on used Blaser R93 rifles. I’ve brushed up on some of the old AH threads regarding the rare catastrophic bolt failures of the R93. I think there were two catastrophic incidents worldwide but I could be wrong? Nor did I read about any conclusive proof of what exactly caused this, like too hot handloads? There was no recall that I’m aware of either?

My question is it worthwhile to obtain a used R93?

Are there any AH members who presently use an R93 without concern?

Is there a way to retrofit an R93 and prevent a catastrophic bolt failure?

There seem to be some pretty amazing deals on R93’s but I really don’t want to worry about having a bolt imbedded in my forehead! Years ago, the original Beretta 92 F 9mm service pistol had some failures with the slide coming off and injuring the user so Beretta engineered a retention disc to prevent this from happening and it became the model 92 FS.

Thanks for any feedback.

I BOUGHT A R93 +/- 20 YEARS AGO BASED ON MY GRANDMA LEAVING ME A BIT OF MONEY I DIDNT EXPECT OR NEED SO I BOUGHT SOMETHING THAT I THOUGH MIGHT LAST A GEN OR TWO. UPGRADED WOOD, 3 BARRELS, LEFT/RIGHT BOLTS, NICE SCOPES, THE WHOLE SHEBANG. ADDED ANOTHER SYNTHETIC STOCK AND ANOTHER COUPLE BARRELS.. COUPLE ELE, COUPLE BUFF, HIPPO, LEOPARD, BUNCH OF HOOFED GAME ALL OVER, NEVER A HICCUP.
NEVER BEEN SCARED TO SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER. THAT BEING SAID ALL WE SHOOT IS FACTORY AMMO.
WE ARE PRETTY MUCH SET WITH OURS, DO NOT SEE US "UPGRADING" TO "R8". IF YOU BUY A R93 THE THING I THINK NOW IS TO PICK UP ALL THE SMALL PARTS AS EXTRAS. MAGS, BOLTS, ETC.

I was gifted a R84 Ultimate in 8x68 and 6.5x68. It has 2 scopes. I shot it years ago in the 80s and still remember the pain and sore arm for 2 days! Have never used it in the field.

Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
You can see them in herds of a 100 plus together.

This excellent ram was taken with one of our previous client this past season.
