Denver International Sportsmans Expo

Not sure if anyone made it to the Expo. My plans to go Thurs or today got shot down by circumstances and weather. Going to give it one more try Saturday...if nothing else pops up. Knock wood.

I’m going up tomorrow morning with some hunting buddies. Supposed to snow around 2 tomorrow. Yahoo! But at least it’s not going to be -12 like last year. Wear your AH cap so we’ll know who the AH members are. Nevermind, NOBODY has one! LOL

I went today.
Quite a few African hunting companies.
Seems to have more campers, four wheelers etc then in the past.
New Zealand has several.
Didn’t look at any of the fishing.

Wow, nice deer too! Wish we “common” AH members could qualify for a hat like that? LOL. It would be great to have members wear AH hats when attending various hunting expos across the country so other members could strike up a conversation with them. Not all of us can attend the SCI or DSC events but there are lots of local shows where members reside that are attended by “unknown” AH members.

Are you driving to the convention center? I usually take light rail to avoid Denver driving and parking mess.

The last two years we did take the light rail. Then there were a number of years I didn't go but before that I'd park at Coor's Field and they had a free shuttle to and from the Convention Center. That was slick. I guess they're not doing that anymore because I don't see anything on the CC website parking pertaining to the parking at Coors? I guess we'll just take the light rail again this year but it adds quite a bit of time getting to the CC. I don't know where else to park close to the CC though?

If you're interested, would you and your guys like to meet up at a light rail station and head down together? My buds cancelled going this year due to health and family reasons.

What light rail station do you use? We picked up a friend last year in Castle Rock and then went to a light rail station, but I'm just driving and following directions and am not sure which one it was? Maybe only one? We're leaving at 0900 from Black Forest. I'll PM you.

IT HAS TO BE BETTER THAN DALLAS SAFARI CLUB IN ATLANTA!
A total joke, and don't let them tell you it was the weather, first 2 days total waist
for exhibitors, early Friday morning got less than 2" of snow and they shut the entire city
down, with 2 big convention/trade shows in town with 12,000 attendees staying in the surrounding hotels and only 3 restaurants open! I'll never be back to DSC until it returns to Dallas

Problem is that some areas know how to deal with snow, others lock their doors and hide in the closet.

Atlanta is the lock the door and hide type of area.

My buddy with is at DSC and sent me a pic out of his hotel room. Looked bad. My niece and her family in an ATL suburb sent a pic of them playing in the snow.

Looks like Dallas/Ft. Worth got 1-3" of snow? Whether Atlanta or Dallas or anywhere else, it's not the snowfall so much as any accompanying ICE that's the worst.

I got stuck in a ice storm in Missouri one time and just sat in the coffee shop watching cars and trucks trying to go up a very small hill, only to slide back down and crash into another one. It was some great entertainment for half a day. That town just shut down completely until it warmed up and I couldn't blame them. While I knew how to drive on it there was no way that you could stay out of all the others that were on the road.

I was planning to go yesterday but my daughter came down from Craig for my aunts birthday this weekend. That was my only day off so I'm out.
Side note, I didn't even know about lite rail or how to use it. Gotta get out of the mountains more I guess. Lol
Snowing hard right now but headed to work as usual.

Vail Pass doesn't look too friendly right now

How is your Colorado annual snow pac going so far?
Where I live it's been very mild. I'm 30 minutes from Aspen. My yard is mostly bare. Used my snowblower once so far. Maybe again after work today.
X games is in 2 weeks in Aspen and they were worried they might have to move it somewhere else.
Meeker to the north had to cancel an annual event there.
I don't know the numbers up high but less than normal here.

Ice climbing festival in Ouray is in a few weeks. Hopefully they have good ice

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
