Experience Africa With Limcroma Safaris

I see these fellows were using expanding broadheads in this 2019 video and another. I booked a hunt for 2020 and I was told only fixed heads were allowed. Did the policy change?

Hello Sir,

I apologize for the late reply. I missed your inquiry until just now..

The policy at Limcroma is that we discourage the use of expandable broadheads for several reasons. It has been our experience that expandable/mechanical heads have much higher failure rates in deploying properly. Additionally, they generally do not penetrate nearly as well or as consistently as fixed-blade heads, especially from bow set-ups lacking the proper energy to effectively deploy them.

That being said, you are welcomed to hunt with any broadhead of your choosing provided that you accept responsibility for the equipment you decide to use, with the exception of hunting dangerous game.

I entirely agree with your view of using fixed heads for large animals and dangerous game such as Cape Buffalo. But a wide variety of your Plains Game is "deer sized" animals, weighing 100 to 400 lbs. A good quality expanding head is suitable for these animals. I emphasize the words "good quality". All broadheads, no matter fixed or mechanical are not of equal quality. That also makes the dilemma more difficult. I have a Bow Hunt for Plains Game scheduled for this September (will probably be rescheduled due to Covid) and planned on using fixed heads as you recommended. Most of the animals will be "deer sized" game so it's nice to see we have the flexibility to use proven mechanical heads should we choose. An Eland is on my list. I WON"T be using a mechanical for him. Thanks!

Hannes,
Great post and great progress since you hosted Sterling and me back before your lodge or chalets were open. Wish the family and I were there right now rather than here in the hot Texas sun.
Keep up the good work.
Regards,
Charles

PS I now have two double rifles that have yet to be blooded in Africa.

Here is our most recent full-length client safari video featuring Mr. Marvin, his lovely wife Miss Debbie, and their grandson Gatlin on their incredible African adventure with Limcroma Safaris.... Mr. Marvin and his entire family have become very dear friends over the years. They have hunted with us multiple times, and they have referred many friends to us as well. Many outfits claim that you will arrive as clients, but leave as family, but we mean it... We are proud to feature their most recent safari experience with us. Please enjoy!

Terrific! Looking forward to my hunt in 2021.

We wanted to share a couple of photos of some very special trophies taken by our youngest hunters of the season (so far).... These two youngsters are the real deal. I think we have them hooked for life! Congrats!

We had some great success with our guests who hunted Cape buffalo with us in 2019... At Limcroma, we have several huge buffalo hunting properties as large as 35,000 acres contiguously offering our hunters a very challenging fair chase hunt of exceptional quality... As a result of our management practices, we will be offering a couple of fantastic limited opportunities to hunt for a huge Cape buffalo trophy animal in the 2020 & 2021 seasons. We will also continue the offer to hunt for buffalo cows for those that may want to experience the thrill of a Big 5 hunt as a much more affordable option... We can also customize a package to include a Cape buffalo bull & cow along with any plainsgame you may wish to include at an incredible value.

Some impressive buffs there Hannes..!

A rare and special sighting today in the bushveld! One of our favorite little animals! Bat-eared foxes are known for their abnormally large ears... They can even hear insects moving underground! They also use their large ears to stay cool. It is their defining attribute. Have you been lucky enough to spot a bat-eared fox in the wild?
