Dam I was eyeing that one as well. It had been on the market for a bit. I bet some people got a chance to handle one at SCI and decided to make a move.

I don’t know much about value on the newer Rigby offerings, but even for being quite basic, I bet the buyer wouldn’t get hurt at that price point.

Experts chime in. As new because big bores “don’t get used often” as the advertisement states, or due to refinishing? I only know enough about these to get in trouble.

The poor marketing copy doesn't help...ie, it says it is a 450 NE and a 450/400...good to know at $9k what caliber you're getting.

Interesting. Definitely reworked. It looks like they retained the Farquharson patent use number on the right side of the action. They re-engraved George Gibbs on the left side. No idea when it was re-worked. I would be curious if the action was one of the best quality Gibbs actions or one of the military style. You might be able to get more info if you can get the use number. It may be listed in one of the single shot books.

I called for an hour... finally called customer service and had them walk my info back to the gun room. Right when I got through to the gun room it "just sold"

I bought a Rigby in 416 from them on Sunday at the Nashville airport by calling after having sent an email inquiry. I wasted no time in giving them my card and solidifying the deal. I received the rifle Wednesday and today.... 6 full days later I received an email response apologizing the rifle had been SOLD!!! Glad I got through to someone.

I did not buy the scoped rifle... I purchased the other 416. I love the dark reddish hue and in talking with both Marc & Jerome at the Rigby booth, they are having a harder and harder time finding the walnut that produces that dark red coloration. Most of the rifles were a much lighter Turkish walnut that were for sale at the booth.

I do not need to buy any more rifles (I keep repeating to myself...). One particular rifle I do not need to buy is a left-handed 25-06 with a 24" barrel. I have convinced myself that I can just shoot a lighter bullet out of one of my 30-06 rifles instead. No need to fill that annoying gap in my lineup between the 22-250 & the 6.5x55 SE with a quarter bore.

If someone could go buy this nice-looking Ruger 77 MkII for $799 from Cabela's, I would really appreciate you making it disappear. No shipping charge to the nearest Cabela's or BassPro. No FFL fee when it arrives. You need this rifle. Please save me before I crack.

Just don't ever call them, and that way you can always tell yourself that (in typical Cabelas fashion) the gun had sold just before you called. I use this trick on myself with Cabelas listings all the time.
