Hello everyone,
New member here and also a new big game hunter!
I actually live in Africa (Congo) and I am going to get into big game hunting (previous hunting experience being limited to birds).
It will be great to learn form all of your experience and be a member of this forum. I have lots of questions and being an engineer by training, I tend to enjoy the little details about everything while respecting the experience of the pragmatic rather than the theoretical.
As things stand I purchased during off season a shotgun and rifle from a fellow hunter who was leaving the country, hence I am patiently waiting for the season to start in may.
In Congo, fellow hunters essentially hunt the forest buffalo (plentiful), the odd sitatunga (quite rare) or other local antelopes (not sure about the names but also rare).
While I would have liked to get into big game hunting with smaller species, I find myself straight in the dangerous game category, I tend to listen to accomplished hunters and don't plan on hunting alone until few years experience.
Regards
