Evening gents anyone know a maker or supplier of cap guns for children that aren’t china and co garbage? My nephew started school this year and he definitely needs a quality double shotgun or good reliable rifle to burn caps through. I’d settle for a decent pair of six guns so he can properly watch John Wayne with me.

@Tubby’s Canteen - I think that ship sailed 20 years ago, doubt any manufacturers sell a “realistic looking” toy gun for KIDS - the “Political Correctness” alone would prohibit any business for doing that and liability might also factor in.
I had really good cap guns when I was a kid - made of metal, good caps too with plenty of gun power in each cap for a “loud bang”…those days are long gone - unless you find some in an Antique Store?
In the 1990s I was on a business trip to Calgary Canada, saw a great pair of “toy” Six Shooters, made of metal with real leather holsters and in a clear covered box. I purchased them for my 5 year old Son and kept them unopened in their manufacturers box. When I went to the Airport to fly home - was stopped by Security at the baggage screening check point -questioned, detained, then allowed to put them in my “checked baggage” and proceed. Now, after 9-11 guessing it might be a bigger problem. AND if a kid ever took them “toys” to school — suspended or expelled plus Police would be called. The World has changed….UNfortunately

I got one for my boy a couple years ago in a shop near the stockyards in Ft Worth. Good quality made of metal and in the USA can't remember the maker. I'm on a hunting trip in NM but will text the wife to see if she can find it and figure it out.

@Tubby’s Canteen - just “thinking about it” is illegal in Canada, now we have to turn you in for the reward !
I’ll have to brush my black hat till it shines and wax my moustache so I look like a proper villain.

Wait, toy guns are illegal in Canada???

Bill c21 had a sneaky little clause that made anything considered a reproduction of a firearm or closely representing a firearm illegal. Cap guns and models fall under that. You can still buy childrens cap guns to the dollar store but they’re clear plastic and orange tipped. To buy my nephew a wood and metal set is illegal

Ridiculous. It’s downsized so perhaps you could get away with it. Cabela’s sells a neat little SxS shotgun that actually opens, you put shells with primer type caps in it, and it goes bang.

On the reproductions. My uncle was working undercover in Windsor years ago. A guy held up a store. Bottom line he drew down on my uncle who promptly killed him. Turns out it was a non-functioning replica of a 1911. No way for him to know and he actually got a commendation for it. Probably a different outcome in today’s crazy world.

I had a non functioning BHP as a kid with no grips. Also some type of Mauser spotter that had been through a house fire. My step grandfather dropped it into a Yugo surplus stock. The bolt even works, but I had to put a spot of hot glue for a bolt stop.
I have carried those two more than any functional firearm.

I had a stevens rolling block .22 dad welded both ends in on and like you said Wyatt I’ve got more miles on it than most of my real guns.

I’ll look that up WAB , as far as I’m concerned your uncle made exactly the right call better to be judged by twelve than carried by six.
