Hello there, I have over 700 Big Game Hunting books that we would like to sell from my mother’s estate. The books are in Long Island. I am attaching a PDF listing of the titles we have with pricing. Many of the books are numbered and signed, are in a collection, and cover Africa, Asia, and (small amount) the United States. If you are interested in more information about a particular collection or book, please message me for more details. Serious inquiries only please. Please note that any prices that are quoted DO NOT INCLUDE the price for shipping. We only ship in the United States. Have a great day! Take care.

You might want to contact Good Books in the Woods, in Woodlands, TX. They buy and sell a lot of hunting books. You might work a deal on the entire lot with them.

Trophy room books once offered me a lump sum for my 1500 Africa books, might just go that route. On the other hand I might be interested in the whole lot, I am sure we have some duplicates but I bet there are some treasures in there.

That is a great idea. Selling the whole lot is what I wanted to do initially, but I didn't get any offers that I thought was valuable. So I decided to sell them individually. Sold about 100 books, 8 transactions total just last month. It's a lot of work. But i'm connecting with good people. I usually throw in a free book or some safari treasure that my mom brought back from Africa. Just having fun with it I guess. Thanks for your recommendation, I will look into Good Books. Take care.

Hey Jason, we can definitely talk about the whole lot, or a good number of them. I did post a PDF with pricing of the collection. Anything crossed off has been sold already. My mom bought 75% of her collection from Ellen @ Trophy Room. I've been in contact with her as well. Maybe we can have a conversation over the weekend or soon? Whatever you are comfortable with. Let me know. Thanks!

Derrick,

Once again, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions and providing pictures of the books I purchased. Always nice to deal with honest people.

Good list. I’m in Eastern LI. Interested in European hunting books - stag, Carpathians, chamois, boar, etc. Aasgard books are on my list. Do you have any other kinds of books? Tolstoy? History, literature, poetry? Your collection is amazing.

Hey Rimbaud, thank you for the compliments. It seems my mom had a lot of interest in the African side of hunting. I havent seen much European hunting books, although it wouldn't surprise me if she had a couple. So in addition, to the 700+ African hunting books, she also had thousands of other books. (yes thousands) But the only ones we categorized where the African hunting books. The other kinds of books consisted of History, War books, Bird species books, Space and Nasa books, various cat books (lions, tigers, leopards, cheetahs), airplanes, black history, slavery, rocks and gems, science, horses. Thats all I can think of right now. But those books I have in boxes.

You’re mother sounds like an amazing person. When and if you get the opportunity to review and catalog the rest of her library, I hope you consider listing the titles on this site. The members have an extraordinary range of interests. Now, to argue against myself, there are many bookstores that would be interested in your mother’s collections. Argosy in NYC is excellent, and the Strand is good, too. I hope you and yours are holding up well in the wake of your mother’s passing. May her memory be a blessing to you.

Thank You Rimbaud. Yes she was amazing and quite extraordinary. She did all these crazy safaris by herself and was very ambitious. She would get excited when an elephant charged her in Africa. Maybe she was part crazy! Lol. Being that you are in Long Island, if you are ever close by Merrick, let me know. I can give you a tour of her collection. They are all in boxes so it would take some time, but Im sure we can figure something out. Theres probably 3,000 books in total. Have a great night!
