Hello there, I have over 700 Big Game Hunting books that we would like to sell from my mother’s estate. The books are in Long Island. I am attaching a PDF listing of the titles we have with pricing. Many of the books are numbered and signed, are in a collection, and cover Africa, Asia, and (small amount) the United States. If you are interested in more information about a particular collection or book, please message me for more details. Serious inquiries only please. Please note that any prices that are quoted DO NOT INCLUDE the price for shipping. We only ship in the United States. Have a great day! Take care.

You might want to contact Good Books in the Woods, in Woodlands, TX. They buy and sell a lot of hunting books. You might work a deal on the entire lot with them.

Trophy room books once offered me a lump sum for my 1500 Africa books, might just go that route. On the other hand I might be interested in the whole lot, I am sure we have some duplicates but I bet there are some treasures in there.

That is a great idea. Selling the whole lot is what I wanted to do initially, but I didn't get any offers that I thought was valuable. So I decided to sell them individually. Sold about 100 books, 8 transactions total just last month. It's a lot of work. But i'm connecting with good people. I usually throw in a free book or some safari treasure that my mom brought back from Africa. Just having fun with it I guess. Thanks for your recommendation, I will look into Good Books. Take care.

Hey Jason, we can definitely talk about the whole lot, or a good number of them. I did post a PDF with pricing of the collection. Anything crossed off has been sold already. My mom bought 75% of her collection from Ellen @ Trophy Room. I've been in contact with her as well. Maybe we can have a conversation over the weekend or soon? Whatever you are comfortable with. Let me know. Thanks!

Derrick,

Once again, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions and providing pictures of the books I purchased. Always nice to deal with honest people.

Good list. I’m in Eastern LI. Interested in European hunting books - stag, Carpathians, chamois, boar, etc. Aasgard books are on my list. Do you have any other kinds of books? Tolstoy? History, literature, poetry? Your collection is amazing.

Hey Rimbaud, thank you for the compliments. It seems my mom had a lot of interest in the African side of hunting. I havent seen much European hunting books, although it wouldn't surprise me if she had a couple. So in addition, to the 700+ African hunting books, she also had thousands of other books. (yes thousands) But the only ones we categorized where the African hunting books. The other kinds of books consisted of History, War books, Bird species books, Space and Nasa books, various cat books (lions, tigers, leopards, cheetahs), airplanes, black history, slavery, rocks and gems, science, horses. Thats all I can think of right now. But those books I have in boxes.

You’re mother sounds like an amazing person. When and if you get the opportunity to review and catalog the rest of her library, I hope you consider listing the titles on this site. The members have an extraordinary range of interests. Now, to argue against myself, there are many bookstores that would be interested in your mother’s collections. Argosy in NYC is excellent, and the Strand is good, too. I hope you and yours are holding up well in the wake of your mother’s passing. May her memory be a blessing to you.

Thank You Rimbaud. Yes she was amazing and quite extraordinary. She did all these crazy safaris by herself and was very ambitious. She would get excited when an elephant charged her in Africa. Maybe she was part crazy! Lol. Being that you are in Long Island, if you are ever close by Merrick, let me know. I can give you a tour of her collection. They are all in boxes so it would take some time, but Im sure we can figure something out. Theres probably 3,000 books in total. Have a great night!

I feel compelled to info these are for sale under a different name on facebook. There may be nothing wrong, but in these times with scams, one can not to too careful.

Hello Rigbymauser. Yes, you are absolutely correct. I only ask you read thoroughly and do your research before making posts like this. Mr. Grant Stout was the first to question what you are questioning (see attachment) and we kept the post live to satisfy peoples curiosity. This collection is under here with Africa Hunting and "big game hunting books" on FB. And you will see hundreds of books on ebay with the same pics. Sydney Cresap is my aunt, my mothers sister. My mom, who passed away suddenly, left me with her beautiful lifelong collection of big game hunting books. My aunt is helping me sell and organize these books. I kept and handful of the books for myself, but I have no place to keep 700 books. Because this is such a niche collection, I have to post to these wonderful sites with wonderful people who I have met and sold books to (again if read the posts you can verify this yourself). However, there are scammers everywhere, thank you for your concern. I can see this community is super close and protects one another, a great quality to have. I had to respond to several folks before you. They all apologized for their scammer posts. No scams, all good, just a guy trying to sell his mothers prized passions to people who loved big game hunting as much as she did. Take a look at the spreadsheet Rigbymauser, let me know a book that interests you, I'll send it to you on the house, as long as you commit to make a purchase in the near future. Let's build some trust! Your move. Have a great night and hope to hear from you soon. Be well.

Rigbymauser,

Thanks for the heads up. However, Derrick is not trying to scam anyone. If you read this entire thread or the Facebook page, you’ll see people have bought books from. Derrick will send you pictures of the individual book(s) you are looking to purchase. Derrick is a great guy to deal with.

I think I would like to read the biography of the lady who went on all of these safaris and collected all of these books.

I just wanted to leave some positive public feedback about buying books from Derrick Edwin if anyone is on the fence about buying books off of a message board.

I private messaged him about the four books shown below and he happily provided multiple pictures of each book. I Venmo'ed him the agreed upon amount and he shipped them the next day. Derrick provided USPS tracking and they arrived about a week later. Each book was individually wrapped and well protected. I received exactly what was advertised and what the pictures depicted.

I'm really happy about the transaction overall, Thanks Again Derrick!

If you are looking to add a few cool old books to your collection, this is the real deal!

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.
