International Big Game Rifle / Dangerous Game Shoot. 24 - 25 Aug 2024

Must have been a minimum caliber for that contest? 375?

'Stalking Class' / Group 1, so
Minimum calibre 0.330 inch
Minimum bullet weight 225 grains
Minimum of 2,900 foot pounds muzzle energy

So this particular event seems to envisage an unplanned encounter with Simba :)

@Tintin I was there briefly on the Saturday, just for a quick look and to stock up on brass. Wish I had joined in after seeing how much fun it looked.

This sadly is the first time I’ve heard of this! I have some very good friends that live in Sydney and could both visit them and then come up for this!!! Sounds very fun!
Question though? As an American I’m even allowed to bring firearms into Australia anymore?

@CZDiesel - we'd love to have you out here. This International match is held every 2 years and typically rotates between Australia, UK and RSA. I havn't heard where the next one will be.

There is also a Big Game National Shoot each year - this year in Victoria

Overseas hunters / competitors can bring firearms in - of course there is some admin involved - like all countries.

Specifics vary by state / territory, eg for Vic, see

Thank you for taking the time to update. There’s a thousand (probably literally) different 3 gun events uploaded to YouTube all the time, but not nearly enough action of this type. I’m surely not the only one who enjoys these reports, so thank you.

Thanks @Josh P

This was a 5 gun event for me

.300 WM (plains game stage)
9.3x62
.400 Jeffery
.416 Rigby
.500 Jeffery

;-)
