Movies Film

I seen it in the theatre when it was first released, and a few times since. I thot Henry Fonda's cranky old tough as nails bastard was perfect. I liked One Flew Over the Cuckoo's as well, but i think Some Times a Great Notion adapted better as a movie.
I like this movie a lot and have seen it many times, but the book was quite a bit better, whereas Cuckoos Nest the movie was actually better than the book and I am a fan of Ken Kesey.

So many movies that are great. But I'll chime in with this forgotten classic

Hilarious movie! ^^^^

Agreed! Have a copy- watched several times. Fairly low budget film but good story, good writing and good acting.

Hard for me to predict what I may or may not like. All I know is that the late Glen Campbell couldn’t act, neither can Willie Nelson. :) I also pay little attention to critics.

Just thought of one I haven’t seen in a while- Seven Years In Tibet with Brad Pitt. Not a Brad Pitt fan but I did like the movie. One of my favorites remains Robin Hood with Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett.
As this movie was taken down , i dont remember which one this was . So ill start to write the name In posts when i find it to later search again for it.

This is a "Must" for everyone ... please, give it a moment.
respectfully,

He nailed it .. called Hollywood out! I love the looks on the actors faces, Tom Hanks, etc ...

I recently watched lost highway in a theater. I saw it in the theater when it came out. That's a great lynch film
I'm really surprised anyone's familiar with his work .. I've watched him for years, was always fascinated by his unorthodox directing.

Twin Peaks "Fire Walk With Me" came out in 1995. It was, is disturbing & confusing.

I was just recently talking about Fire Walk With Me to someone who had never seen it. Quite the hard sell but I still think about that film.

All too familiar. But he depicts, like a lot of his films a spiritual divide, "Good vs. Evil"

Lost Highway (the VHS left on their doorstep, eventually showing the inside of the apartment)
.. it's chilling.

I've come to the analysis that lost highway is about two converging time lines and dimensions, short circuited and linked by Alice's feminine sexuality and mans desire and lust. It's clear from the characters that this is what's going on. Few of Lynchs films are this clear. Blue velvet is another that's coherent "for a lynch film" Mans ugly side lies just beneath the surface and female sexual energy is the catalyst that brings out this animal, carnel side and in some cases borders violence.

Mullholland Drive .. didn't catch on, per say.
But we watched it every night when Ma was up .. what I didn't notice were clues in the DVD

What it does, however, is exploit Hollywood for what it is.

We had another "movie" thread not too long ago so apologies for any duplicates.
Here are some random, eclectic selections I like, some well known and some not at all. As I've posted before, I don't give a gnat's rear end whether or not rotten tomatoes likes them or not- high dollar or low budget makes no difference. Some are pure fantasy and some are interpretations of true stories. If I like them and they are well done, I'm in. :)

Hidalgo based loosely on a true story and IIRC one of the last if not the last mainstream feature movie with Omar Sharif. A well done movie with good acting.

Lord of the Rings a high budget well known classic trilogy based on works by Tolkien... also featuring Viggo Mortensen. Great movies require great stories. Some fiction/fantasy movies are not much appreciated by those with limited imaginations.

A couple of Matt Damon fiction movies. Downsizing and The Martian. Downsizing is different and a bit quirky but I really appreciated it. :)

Another fiction/fantasy attributed to Tolkien and converted to movie form is The Hobbit trilogy. Some believe Tolkien used world affairs as a catalyst for his works. All six, LOTR plus The Hobbit, were great movies, IMO.
