My new Rand's hat is on the way...

Wow, never realized buying a decent hat was such a controversial decision. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
All the cowpunchers in my country including myself west Rands; or another custom equivalent. In all my life I had not been told we were wrong. I wish someone would have coughed up that information earlier; could have saved a ton of money. Can’t forget all the time I would have saved too. Evidently every time the grass flickers in the breeze my lid blows to the next county, and I have to light out after it.

Woulda thought you'd have figured it out for yourself by now. Wait ... are you from Texas?

Guys, I admit I shoot and love traditional American Skeet and I’m overjoyed with my very occasional 25. That being said, I also have a big d!ck and don’t need to embellish my exploits like others to over compensate for obvious shortcomings!!!

from left to right: Havstad, O’Farrell and Rand. Love these hats; wear them in all weather and all conditions. Not afraid to get them wet, sweaty or filthy—just adds character! The Havstad went to Namibia with me and brought back more than a little ground in dirt. A custom hat is like a pair of custom boots, the comfort is worth the extra cost imo. These three will likely outlast me.

Great pic!! Love the color of the Rand!!

Lol! Shoot you’re backing me into a corner. Texans outnumber me 20 to one on this sight. It’s probably not I good idea for me to start making Texas jokes. I don’t think I’ll throw my saddle on this bronc.

OK, this conversation is going south in a hurry!
Yeah a real sausage party
a nice saw palm hat I can soak in water to keep the head cool is the ticket

I think I may get a real kicking on this thread if I ever admitted to wearing Westley Richards shirts and jackets and Purdey leather coat, writing with a Holland and Holland pen and wearing a Rolex. Why do I do it you might ask? Because I appreciate quality, and it brings me far more pleasure than the money does. Visit to Rand's next!! With a chin strap to keep it on in my Land Rover...

Holy Crap Brothers,...you all are serious about your headwear. I'm left sitting here feeling like a complete amateur wearing my Tilley that I just throw in the laundry when I get back home and wear in the yard for yard work days.

I also write with a Montblanc ....... usually the fountain pen.

Tilley's Rock! I just replaced the one I wore for the last 30+ years :)

Yep. Mine was a gift from my father decades ago. I use it to this day, but never leaves my home office.

@Tanks, thanks for starting this thread. I have come to appreciate hats and realize I don’t know didily squat about them. This thread is advancing my education as I have never heard of Rand and some of the other hat brands mentioned.
I used to wear ball caps but have veered away from them the last couple of years and will absolutely not wear one with a button on top. Those buttons are annoying when wearing hearing protection or headsets while shooting or flying.
I have had a Pendleton Wool Fedora for many years that I wear sometimes in the winter months and for the last couple of years been wearing a Palmata Panama Hat from Orvis in the summer months.
I would like to try on several styles of hats to see what looks good on me and what doesn’t. Do you have ant suggestions on hat makers with in 200 miles of south central California?

I don't have one from them but hear good things about Wellema Hat Co. I do have a hat from Great Basin Hat Co in Elko, NV and can definitely recommend them, Mike does good work. Not sure how far either is from you.

No Montblanc but it does the job just as well. A local guy in a wheelchair made this one from maple burl. The nib is from China I think. I use a fountain pen because my veterans disability is to right hand. Fountain pens require less pressure when writing.
