New Visa requirements for Namibia

Is the actual Visa cost $90 or the cost the travel agent charged to complete?

I remember handing the nice uniformed gentleman the crispy $20 at Vic Falls airport for my "entrance Visa". He opened a drawer and scooped it in with the what looked like 100s of other $20's. Did get the stamp and that's what mattered.

Seams more of a prominent money making plan for all Govs now.

The approximately $90 is the cost of the visa. If you have your travel agent complete it for you, they’ll charge a fee as well.

It is a money grab, job creation, and power play. I am not remembering ever paying $90 for a visa in all my travels but I could be forgetting one.
Imagine a third world country thinking they deserve visa reciprocity with the USA!
I can't remember where I went, I think it was Qutar for work. Had to pay $100 to enter, because that is what Quatari were charged to enter the USA.

In my opinion, it wasn’t meant to solve a problem. First and foremost, it’s an attempt to get back at the US and the UK for requiring their people to get a visa when they visit our countries. A bit of tit for tat. The little bit of money they’re gonna make at $90 a pop certainly isn’t worth the effort. Never underestimate the power of populism. The term reciprocity is getting thrown around a lot lately!
Agree fully, as others state Canada gets a higher Visa in Zim, only because our Gov has decided that they are somehow bad, our enemy and deserve bad treatment. And Canada has some stupid gun rules against Zim.

We have morons in charge.

Sad days.

The bureaucracy necessary to implement this will more than eat up all profits in ANY African nation. And it certainly won't increase the number of tourists. .......FWB
Well maybe. Labor is pretty cheap in Africa.

@BryceM Labor IS cheap. But corruption is expensive in Africa.............FWB

reminds me of a man who owned a small store in a decent area and made a good living there, well he got a little greedy and raised his prices. figuring to make alot more money and he did make more money on the items he sold, but his customer base went into the tank as he sold alot less than before the raise and realy lost money in the long run. it took him several years to make up the losses due to his raises.

Yes we do have thousands of G-Bears, no conservation issue, greenie with dumb feelings and a Gov who will do anything for max votes.

Our G-Bears have really become more prevalent since the closure, for fist time in our history we have breeding populations on Vancouver Island. I shot my latest/last one Oct 26 2017, hunting for then closed 1 Nov 2017. For many years it was well managed with our LEH draws.

I would say your first pic of the brown bear is actually a black bear color phase brown. Second is a grizz.

Sorry OP, now back to Namibia and Visas.

It’s mostly reciprocity for things the US and Europe impose on visitors from Africa…… and a money grab.
You got it . Exactly, nail on the head, bullseye.

I obtained my visa for Namib myself in the last few weeks via the Namib govt. visa online site. It took a matter of minutes to apply, with the docs mentioned above, and it was approved basically instantly. 15-20 mins start to finish, paid with my credit card on their site. I have the printed visa in-hand. I arrive there on April 2nd, one day into their new visa regime (what could go wrong?), I will let yall know how the process goes. Cheers

As a follow up to this. I entered Namibia on April 2nd and flew out yesterday, April 8th. On arrival, I still had to fill out that paper entry form that everyone does but at the counter where you turn that in I also provided my printed out visa (I had more copies on me too). That did make it go faster for sure. The guy kept my print out and stamped my passport.

When exiting the country, the lady just stamped my passport with no discussion.

Overall, relatively smooth. Cheers

I leave Namibia Friday for South Africa (Instead of Zambia as planned). Only problem I had with entry was it took 3 hours. I had all my paperwork printed and they asked for none of it, Just looked at the form and stamped me in.

Beautiful in Namibia right now with all the rain they have had, but hunting was a bit of a challenge due to so much foliage.

By the way, Lufthansa is now requiring you have a E visa (Visa on arrival) or Holiday Visa printed and in possession, they are denying people boarding to Windhoek from Frankfurt without a physical visa or E visa. Some folks are stranded trying to get their E visa done online but the backup now is many days. What a mess.

I suggest to avoid Namibia for a few months, one year maybe.
Let the Namibian government enjoy itself without our money

A principled man. I can respect that. But, no, I’m not shit-canning my safari over $90.00. If the difference between having a dream hunt realized or dashed is $90.00, I’ve got big problems that won’t be solved by boycotting an entire nation.

My plane leaves in five hours for Namibia! I don’t think I’ll take a pass on this trip! A few hours wasted in the airport in Windhoek is no great barrier. As far as the cost of the Visa, parking at the St. Louis airport will run $400. So $90 is not a big deal.
