Politics

Driving through Central Minnesota on this tupical grey cloudy November day @Just Gina and I were observing and discussing the many solar panel "farms" or at least fields. Although we understand it from a land owner perspective when they are offered 10 to 20 times the going rental rates per acre to place these panels on their fields... We are disgusted by the policies and politics behind that. We have lost probably 100 acres of rented land to these things. And that is high yielding corn and alfalfa ground. Not the scrub brush of West Texas or deserts in many areas where it may make an eyesore but some sense.

I believe a study came out proving that a modern high yielding (200 bushels plus) acre of corn can remove as much carbon and "greenhouse gas" and produce as much oxygen as an acre of rain forest.

So in the name of "green energy" we are removing that corn and replacing it with panels that can hardly do much of anything in this cloudy weather. Granted a Minnesota corn field can't produce oxygen in winter when it's covered in snow. But a solar panel cannot produce anything under a blanket of snow either.

In fact I thought they would make a ton of sense in Bandera Texas. The sun shines a lot there! Especially if we put them on our extensive roofs so as not to detract from the beautiful landscapes. However when discussing this with guys who have them, the claim zero production in the winter season and as of yet, no profitable production at all!

Politics are truly disgusting and are the real danger to this World of ours.

I went to CBP office in Long Beach, CA to update my doubles to the new form in September. After the CBP agent took the forms to the computer he came back. He said "You have several firearms how come you are putting only these two on the forms?"

How do you think they got a list of my firearms? None were NFA items.
He is probably a hunter and follows you!

Solar makes infinite sense if used sensibly, and of course it also makes sense to resort to the most efficient appliances to use whatever energy is being generated, however it is being generated. The great tragedy and stupidity of this whole green movement has been the dogmatic ‘all or nothing’ approach. Replace that with ‘as much as is sensibly possible’ and you begin to win. For sure solar panels on rooves can supply a lot, but unless people hybernate in cloudy weather and snow you still need the standby energy infrastructure. Wind farms are not only unsightly but have proven to be net negative in terms of life cycle.
The answer is so absolutely simple - solar as far as is sensible and nuclear for the rest. And of course diesel for bulk and distance transport. One day batteries will get there, but not yet.

Both solar and wind are at best a fool's errand and in some cases disastrous- both economically and environmentally. Crunch them however you want, the numbers don't work. The CCP is laughing all the way to the bank while the West cripples itself economically and the world suffers environmentaly. I even see some grasping at straws again with hydrogen, sheesh.

I wonder what a Freedom of Information request would show...

Oh, and how about McCarthy acting like a petulant toddler... what a way to go out! Might be a requisite for an office on K street. I also see, predictably, stealth RINO Ken Buck schmoozing CNN :) Predictable as the sun rising in the east.

What all these green activists fail to realize is the damage these solar panel farms are doing. About 20 miles south of where I live, next to I-75, used to be a nice piece of property with hard wood trees, I'm guessing prob around 200+ acres if not more. This company had to clear this land from all those trees. Where did the fauna go from the destruction of their habitat? These green activist idiots do not see the damage or probably don't care. Oh and BTW, my electric bill went up this year.

And from a Mankind perspective also! As much corn is used for fuel thrse days as livestock feed. More people all the time but less land for farming and ranching to produce food, fuel, fiber, liquor, and pet food. The 5 big catagories demanding that the Agriculture Industry produce more of. Those screaming Chinamen have switched from parakeets and crickets to cats and dogs for pets. That has created a huge new demand for pet food.

But now we are taking out prime farm land to install solar panels. They not only install the posts and panels. They push out the topsoil and build roads to service the panels. Not to mention all the power lines.

And what really gets me is doing it in cloudy or snow covered Minnesota! It is all because the government is doling out huge tax credits and other incentives. The actual market would never support this. However as you mentioned, they are also raising our rates. This is not at all financially or environmentally sustainable.

I had not realized that it was Israel that built both the hospital and underground storage and operating theaters beneath the hospital that Hamas has turned into their headquarters. Israel constructed it in the late eighties when Gaza was part of Israel to the standard they have used on other hospitals making them capable of continuing to function under air or missile attack. At least the IDF should have detailed plans of the portion completed by Israel.

I have just been reading that as well. That should help the IDF immensely. It is my understanding that Hamas has built multiple levels of tunnels and storage even under the subterranean levels of the hospital. This "Watership Down" may prove a bit more troublesome.

Agreed. Solar only of rooves.

Interesting. This and other reporting does indeed indicate that not only was Iran surprised by the Hamas action, but clearly indicated that they have no intention of involving themselves in a regional conflict. Having two carrier battle groups and some 400 TLAM cruise missiles poised to eradicate one's air force, navy, and command an control infrastructure is no doubt a compelling data point as well.

Is it any wonder everyone hates the Palestinians.

I guess Mike Johnson is now a RINO and swamp creature to the bellyache - I mean Freedom - caucus? It must be amazing how different the world suddenly looks when forced to govern rather than simply shout and pose for constituents.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
