Excerpt.

Tesla emphasizes a “party acting in good faith” which it will not initiate patent lawsuits have not: (1)Asserted patent rights against Tesla or other EV related companies; (2)Challenged Tesla’s patents; (3)Marketed or sold any knock-off product of Tesla. In other words, if a company violates the above three points, Tesla does not exclude the possibility of asserting its patent rights.

Basically, anyone using Tesla patents can not sue Tesla for patent infringement. So Tesla gets to steal technology from any company using theirs.
Ford, Samsung and many others.

the real value in Tesla isn’t the stock price for cars. It’s his 3400 patents in the EV space.

Which he currently allows anyone to use without license fees. With primarily 3 strict rules that must be followed.

The value is in the fact that so many industries are now using Tesla patent technology and citing it for their own patents.

He could potentially make more in that world than selling cars.

Which also points to what Elon has said time and time again (and his actions have proven this to be true as well)..

Its no longer about money...

He could give two damns if he never made another penny... he has enough in liquid assets that he could literally never spend in multiple lifetimes..

He wants to change the world.. he wants to go to Mars.. he wants to improve human health.. he wants to secure a better future for the planet.. he wants to secure true free speech.. etc etc etc.. (whether or not someone agrees with his definition of "better" or his methodologies is another matter altogether...)..

Those that were jumping up and down making issue of Musks net worth plummeting, claiming he was being "hurt" by it clearly don't have a clue who Musk is, what matters to him, etc..

Youre talking about the wealthiest person on the planet... whose home is 1200 square feet and furnished with less than $5K in furnishings (ikea chairs, and couches, etc).. who spends most of his days sleeping on couches and cots in friends homes or in his various offices... who is known for working 20 hour days and being very personally involved in pretty much ALL of his companies..

Lutnicks recent interview about a meeting he had with Musk at Musks home should tell you all you want to know about the guy... (google lutnick musk 1200 square feet.. that should bring up the video of Lutnick being interviewed)..

If liberals burned every Tesla dealership in the world and somehow that actually cost Musk $100B... it wouldn't matter at all... its all just wasted efforts and silly virtue signaling (through criminal activity).. that actually brings those that Musk cares about closer to him.. as long as he is still rescuing astronauts, building giga factories, advancing technologies, etc.. he wont lose one moment of sleep over some idiot screaming orange man bad, south African bad, lets crash Tesla!... I'd imagine he's actually gotten a few laughs out of it all..

Musk is concerned about the employees that will be harmed on the production line.

I wonder if people also hope his research into brain implants for paralyzed people fails?
It’s believed that this research could also lead to an implant that controls crippling, chronic pain. No more chemicals ruining peoples lives.

...

It then took a header when liberals decided they hated Elon.. because wait, oh shit! Elon likes Trump!

One year ago today (March 24th, 2024) Tesla was trading at $172... March of 2020 it was $34 a share..

It spent most of 2023 and 2024 hovering between $150-$200 a share...

So, unless you were one of the guys that bought when the stock was skyrocketing 6 months ago (never a smart move in the market), you've made a shit ton load of money on Tesla.. and still are positioned to make a shit ton load of money on Tesla..

...
I and many others took a short position on Tesla when the stock more than doubled before inauguration and saw the writing on the wall right after. We were right.

Yes, for long term it does not matter. My FAANG stocks are all down, I don't care as I have had them for a long time, decades in some cases. Most I will pass to my heirs without cashing them out.

Thank you Elon Musk for sinking the Tesla stock. I have been into medium format photography for a long time in the film days. Still have Zeiss lenses, cameras, 120 and 220 backs.

However, the digital conversion in medium format took a while and was very expensive at the start. It is still expensive, but not high five figures anymore. Once I got the proceeds from shorting Tesla stock, I treated myself to a camera and lens to start. 90mm and 25mm lenses are in the future but wanted some mileage with the basic gear before spending an additional $10K at this point for the other lenses.

Again, thanks Elon Musk for that "alleged" Nazi salute and other antics, to quote "Tropic Thunder" movie, "Never Go Full Retard."

Tesla 1 year valuation chart shows an increase of sixty some odd percent....it is up 11% today. It hit a stupidly high peak at one point in the last year but has settled at a level 60 percent higher than a year ago....doesn't sound like a terrible investment if you bought in a year ago, maybe it is if you bought at that stupidly high peak point.

taking a short anytime between about Dec 15-30th was a smart move.. anyone watching the market knew that ALL stocks were going to fall and all the silliness associated with Musk was going to have a short term negative impact.. and at that point there had been 3+ months of explosive gains that everyone also knew was an anomaly.. the only thing "new" about Tesla in Q4 of 2024 was Musk spending a lot of time at Mar-a-largo.. Even getting out by mid January wouldn't have been a bad play, but wouldn't have netted nearly as much as a Dec move...

I only wish I had bought Tesla at $34 in 2020.. and then sold in Mid December at $480.. Making 1200% in a 5 year period isn't a bad ROI..

Ooooops!

I just saw the same thing. Wow...

Im not convinced this wasnt done on purpose.. (who knows what that purpose would be)..

Signal/Whatsapp/telegram/etc isn't how classified information is shared among defense (and other) government officials.. even at the lowest level..

there are multiple govt systems in place where "chat groups" can be established that are used to convey classified information in real time (different levels of classification results in different systems being used)..

All of the officials on that signal group have access to those govt systems.. it would actually be harder for them to use signal than to use the govt systems...

putting it on signal was done for a reason.. and whoever was in that signal group was put in there for a reason..

Interesting clip from the cbc today laying out arguments for and against a Canadian/European defence and trade agreement in the face of Russian aggression and American “aggression” rather or not you choose to take American aggression seriously it is being discussed at national levels.

Agree. There is more to this story we don't know yet. Like who included Goldberg in the chat and did Goldberg leak secret information.

I was wondering something along those lines. Just seems like too obvious of a mistake.

I think everything that is driving the NATO discussion was stated in the first 60 seconds of that video..

NATO wants to complain about the US saying it wont protect it in accordance with Article 5..

But has over and over and over again failed to meet its obligation to spend the agreed amount on defense.. (to include Canada)..

So Trump says.. you arent meeting your obligation... so the US has no reason to meet its obligation...

If Canada and the European countries that have failed for decades to meet its obligations had in fact taken their NATO commitment seriously.. Trump wouldn't have the argument that he has been given on a silver platter by Europe and Canada..

I do find it funny that NOW Canada and Europe find it necessary to rearm.. AFTER they scream about the relationship falling apart...

When it was always an option to rearm and do exactly what they agreed to do in the first place.. and the relationship wouldn't have had any reason to fall apart...

But.. its Trumps fault.. not their own... even though they acknowledge they were who never met the requirements that they agreed to (spending money on social programs and everything else was far more important than meeting NATO obligations until there was a real threat on the horizon (Russia) and after they have been ignoring the bad orange man since 2017...

But accept no responsibility in the matter.. its all Trumps fault...

On this we’re in complete agreement , the state of readiness or lack there of along with the size and scope of the Canadian forces is deplorable. We started to make modest gains during the Harper years only for them to be lost during the Trudeau reign and then turned around and gave away everything that wasn’t nailed down.

There has also been mention of Canada joining the European Union but that is mostly folly. Although we share boarders with France and Denmark in a technical sense and recognize both official languages of the E.U. Article 49 clearly states that countries applying to the E.U. Must be within Europe and the precedent was already set with the denial of Morocco’s application in the 80s.

Like most things, there is culpability on all sides..

How Canada managed the past couple of decades is reprehensible on the defense front..

And the tactics now being employed by the US to try to get Canada to comply with its commitment leaves a lot to be desired..

I just find it amazing that everyone (on both sides) wants to blame the other.. while not accepting any responsibility for its own actions (or lack of actions)

I tend to prefer simpler explanations like interagency amateur hour. Looks like the meeting format was set up by Waltz.

Yep, if I were Goldberg I’d be pretty nervous about the back story on this one.

They shouldn’t discuss classified information on an unsecured phone app. Idiots all and someone should be fired.

Imagine the howling commentary on Breitbart - heck on Fox - had Jake Sullivan done this.
