Questions on London Gun Shops

Lots of great info in this thread. I had a last minute trip to London this week so hoping to check out a few more of these recommendations if I have time.

I stopped by Holland & Holland on my way to see Buckingham palace. They let me come in without an appointment, so not sure if this was luck or it’s not a strict policy. My Barbour vest and Courtney shoes probably didn’t fool them into thinking I was a serious customer but nonetheless they showed me a couple very nice pieces and were overall friendly.

I don’t think it is a strict policy, when I visited Beretta they invited me to pop into Holland & Holland next door, but I was pressed for time.
Tey to visit Westley Richards in Birmingham.

Tanks, That’s amazing that your 89 yr old mother, maybe 90 by now. Is still independent and has the desire to travel alone.

My grandmothers youngest brother Wally was about to leave for France alone at 93. He passed away just before that trip. He died the youngest of all the siblings. They all were in their late 90 or just over 100.

My great grandfather lived to a ripe old age also. At a time when 80 was old. I have some of his books. Many with four leaf clovers dried in them. I’m not sure if that means he was reading them laying in the grass and looking at the grass more than reading or what

P.S. my wife just reminded me that Wally was taking his new girlfriend to France. He was to travel alone but changed the plans.

As many of us have stated, London is an unbelievable city. Even though all of us on this forum have a major interest in rifles and guns (although many of us can't afford the "good stuff" which London and Birmingham are noted for) it still doesn't hurt to ooh and ah at them when we are there. In my past I was able to get to London and Paris when I was contracting in the Middle East and Eastern Europe fairly often. During those times I had a major interest in book shops/libraries, antique shops and museums. If this is your first time, trust me and many others, London has it all. Before you leave, study maps and know where you want to go. If you are going with a wife or girlfriend that will add another layer of places you will want to visit while there. Since it has been six years since I was there, I am anxious to read a travel report once you return (including pics). Have a great time.
If you are traveling with your wife or girlfriend, I can recommend booking her for the Bespoke Perfume experience at Floris on Germyn Street. For about £700 they will spend 2-3 hours and work with her to develop her own personalized scent, she gets to name it, she will leave with a bottle of it, and can order more anytime she likes. They will never divulge the contents or sell it to anyone else.

Major brownie points, Momma loved it and it put her in a good mood for the gun shop visits. ;)

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
