Recent dip and ship cost

Reading threads like this with so many unknowns I don't know why a specialist sponsor would not come on and post the written rules. Clearing what is at least posted. Not saying individuals or entities would follow. But at least the regs would be known.

Glad I am Canadian, our regs are clearly posted on Gov site. Reason I clear all my own and never paid any storage fees. Easier up here.. After I read these posts and see how much money hunters are paying importers and still getting storage fees I say what the hell are these "professional" companies being paid for.

Get a Go Pro Max camera and shoot VR footage in country. This assumes you have a VR headset/adequate computer at home. Better than a dead, empty husk sitting in your study/office, etc.

My shipping was just under 3000, 8 animals 2 finished shoulder mounts 3 finished skull mounts and the tanned hides, the other hides dip and ship, they sent them in two creates, I don't know if that added to the cost or not. A little more than I was hoping it would cost, but it's around the world shipping so I see where it could also be worse.

The reason for the 2 crates was probably the regulation about not shipping finished taxidermy with raw trophies. $3000 in today’s world isn’t too bad.

I recently posted my shipping costs from my hunt at Nkwe. Shipping was 1800.00 for a crate that was 320#. Sat at JFK for over a month before I was told it was cleared.

My shipment is currently at jfk. Been a week so far, guess i got few more weeks of waiting

My crate of finished taxidermy is sitting in Chicago right now with agriculture holding it up. It’s been there since Monday and still no word on it. I’ll be posting a thread detailing costs and the experience once I receive it.

I'm waiting on a response to my last email.
I know Wyatt just returned from vacation so hoping for an update soon.

Im not sure what the problem was but my shipment got held up in Atlanta and has made it to jfk last week.

my understanding is that they are really checking things in Atlanta due to an issue recently and things are going slowly

I’ve heard the same thing but couldn’t get it confirmed.

I heard from my broker in Seattle that CBP is physically inspecting ALL sport hunted trophy imports regardless of port of entry….

And they (CBP) are charging 206.52 per day minimum (after the 1st day) until they get the trophy’s inspected….

This is the screen shot of his email. I called him after this and he confirmed verbally that this applies to ALL is ports…

I cleared mine last week with no physical inspection needed and no waiting in storage thanks to some quick thinking by my shipper in SA. Seems Atlanta is a mess right now for imports...

Excellent! I am glad it went well for you and can’t wait for the pics when you get them hung.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.
