Snakes always interested me. Uncle build me a cage from an old TV when I was 10, always had a garter, milk or water snake in them. Mostly garters, they bit less.
On safari I have had a few encounters with snakes. Found a shed skin in Zim, folded up nicely and it came home in my gun case as did the 11ft mamba skin I found in SA in 2021, now hangs in memory room. See pic
In Namibia a huge to me rock python slithered past and into the kopje PH and I were scanning from. Leave alone was his direction.
Same PH demanded me to get there quick with my 308 when we went to a cave camp for a few nights on a leopard hunt. Seams a zebra cobra was in cave and slithered behind stove. One shot and a pic session commenced. See pic.
At taxidermy shop I help at, boss did try and mount king a snake from the animal rescue. That never worked. We never had a form.
I have seen pythons dug out and shot by hunters on safari in one country where they are on licence. No PH has ever allowed me to add one to paperwork for export.
A Florida introduced python would look awesome in the memory room.
