I am looking for references for John X Safaris for a planned hunt in the east cape of SA . We will be hunting Buffalo as well as plains game. Thank you !

Their on-line rep is good. Expect lots of other hunters in camp. Seems they specialize in long range shooting if that's your thing.

Thanx Buckwild ! Have you ever hunted with them ?

If you haven’t. They have lots of long form youtube videos that are well done. Show cases the different terrain and hunting options

Seems they offer lots of different types of hunting.

I have never hunted with them.

John X is as good as they get. You can book with ease of mind. Certainly one of the premier outfits in the country.
As KMG has said they are a good outfitter. I have hunted with them. They are top notch. I have also hunted with KMG and I would put both of these outfitters in the same category. Both great outfitters and you will have no problems.

Thank you for letting me know your experience Uintaelkhunter !

Rickmt - If you ever hunted with John X please let us know how it went. Thanks.

My last years September hunt was delayed due to Delta Airlines cancelling our Atlanta to Joburg flight . We were unable to rebook in a timely manner. We will be there this September if all goes well.

Understood, please let us know how it goes.

I am looking for some first hand accounts. I have heard nothing but positive things about them. I plan to talk to them at Houston Safari Club show next month at any rate. Cheers

I enjoy their online YouTube videos. The PHs are very engaging and patient fellas. Real professionals. The terrain is typically spectacular. I would not say they specialize in long range shooting. Quite the opposite. But long range stuff doesn't afford the best videography so I wouldn't expect to see much of it. I do not recall a video of waterhole ambushing or baiting but I don't watch archery, leopard, or night hunting videos (yawn). I'm sure they can do whatever the client wants.

I hunted with John X on my first safari in 2015 and again in 2019. Top 3 outfitters in ZA.

We hunted with John X Safaris at both their Woodlands and Bankfontein camps back in June. Carl and team are top notch and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to hunt in SA. As mentioned above they can tailor the hunt to match just about anything that the client desires from bow to LR and anything in between.

If you are interested in hunting up in the Mountains John X are the guys to go with they have it figured out.

may I suggest Intaba Safaris in the East Cape by Port Elizabeth, Eugene is a great guy, 2 of us will be there April 6th to April 14th. he does cull hunts(that's what I am doing) and if you go to his web site he is and offering daily fees of 200.00 and good cull prices. Thanks Jim
Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
