What caliber would you bring back from the dead?

There are many that were popular and have been overshadowed or discontinued due to new introductions. Some really good cartridges just never caught on,, for a myriad of reasons.
My list would be:
.220 Swift (not dead but on it’s death bed)
.250 Savage (only if brought back in the Savage 99)
.257 Roberts (has a cult following, of which I’m one)
7x57 (classic round that’s fading fast)
.300 Savage (only if brought back in the Savage 99)
.300 H&H (as classic as it gets and with modern powders no different that the .300 Win)
8mm Rem mag (poor marketing, poor bullets but a good solid round)
RUM series: 7mm, ..300, .338 and .375 (only the .300 hangs on. The rest were at or near the top of velocity) (I’m a fan of the .338)
.35 Remington (a classic deer round being replaced by the .360 Buckhammer)
.358 Win (about as good as it gets for a deer to moose <200 yd + round in a lever rifle)
.35 Whelen (everyone clamored for it and few bought it)
.375 Win (ahead of its time. With the straight wall regulations, it would be perfect)
.404 Jeffery (classic and has a cult following)
.450 NE (classic double rifle round that uses readily available .458 bullets. Plus it’s straight walled to use for deer hunting in straight wall states)
Arguments could be made for a myriad of others.

It’s certainly not popular with the cool kids anymore.
I’m definitely not cool. My Springfield 2020 Waypoint in 30-06 arrives to my FFL tomorrow. It was not originally released in long action; I guess it had to prove itself in all the cool chamberings before they could condescend to the 30-06

One cartridge I would also make some effort to bring it back from the dead is the totally unknown cartridge 404 Magnum Schüler, a cartridge that may have originally only existed on the paper. Attempts were made but no known successes.

There are a few but I have a LOT of .303 British rifles & it is a fine caliber with a long list of achievements, be good to see some modern rifles in that caliber, maybe singles & some light doubles ?

Pretty sure the .450NE is still made in some doubles & that’s it’s home so it’s Ok for a bit I think, it is a fine cartridge, had two hunters last season with them & one with a New Heym 89, saying that the rifle had a few Performance issues, not the caliber !

The cartridge 7x66 S.E vom Hofe and especially the 9,3x64 Brenneke still have a following. Bringing them back from the dead is not necessary, rather preventing them from dying. The 7x66 is very much at risk, and with the 9,3x64, you never know. she was close to dying once, but has recovered somewhat. The problem also lies in the fact that everyone internationally is fixated on the marginal cartridge 9,3x62, although the cartridge 9,3x64 is superior and definitely more suitable for hunting dangerous game in Africa. Unfortunately, she has not the aura of the cartridge 9,3x62 and seems to be unknown to the majority.

In general, what was not reactivated did not demonstrate any clear advantages over other cartridges from the same period. This includes cartridges like the 318 WR or 350 Rigby. Ultimately, it's just a matter of personal passion to bring back from the dead an old cartridge.
I recently handled a beautiful (custom?) Mauser 9.3x64 with Recknagel mounts and Schmidt & Bender Optics at the Tulsa gun show this past weekend. Very handsome rifle and well set up for African DG. Perhaps once owned by a German Jäger for wild boar hunting in the Black Forest too and later found its way to America. This and a beautiful Dakota Model 10 in 375 H&H were my favorite rifles to handle at the gun show. Alas, I was there to primarily look but very tempting, including a worn and slightly rusted custom 404 Jeffery rifle, I believe an enfield action that could be had reasonably but not interested in a project rifle.
