What Line Of Work Are You In

So far 34 years in the AF, and will retire in Dec with a total of 34 years, 8 months & 28 days. Landed a civilian job on base, and will continue to work until prob 62 years of age, and then completely retire. :)

The last two years I've been a Compliance officer for a publicly owned electrical utility. I did roughly seven years of HR career promotion and the first twenty years I was the Operator of a 1200 mega watt generating station. Five years till retirement and around two to three before I go my elephant.

So you're an elephant hunter. (y)

Well, I'd like to be, I've done two plains game hunts and would like to be successful at elephant and Cape buffalo. I never thought I'd want to, but back in 2013 I saw a few YouTube videos and have been hooked since then.

I'm fifty nine years old and I go to sleep most nights dreaming of the chance and opportunity to face these two done. I'm like a twelve year old kid, I'm not kidding its on my mind all day. Only five years left till retirement, I'd like to get one done before then and the last a a retirement gift to me...

Started out working in landscaping, then a car wash, sheet metal fabrication factory, machine shop, merchant marine, heavy industry machine shops, steel mill machinist, outside machinist/locomotive operator on the Panama Canal, 2nd job tree surgeon, auto assembly plant toolmaker, in between too many sweatshops to remember, freelance commercial pilot, finishing up with a nine year stint teaching nights at a community college. Only work I do now is build rifles to take to Africa and pro bono work for farmers taking care of groundhogs and other crop pests. :D

Wow, quite a varied career path. If 'every life is a story' yours seems to have many chapters!

Yeah, I lost count of how many employers and jobs. Some were fun and some weren't. Forgot to add I drove a tri-axle dump truck one summer for a buddy starting his business. Ironic, through friends and acquaintances, I still get job offers.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
