What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

Does anyone have experience with removing a cyclops on a Rolex Submariner?

Attached is a factory Sea-Dweller, no cyclops.

They take a razor sharp chisel to it and it knocks right off. Howard Frum Jewelers in Chicago does it all the time. Unauthorized, non-rolex approved of course.

The trivia: The reason the seadweller does not have the cyclops on the date is that you cannot remove all the gas bubbles at the molecular level between the magnifier and the crystal. At the depths the seadweller is rated, the expansion and contraction of gases would explode/implode the cyclops and perhaps the whole crystal.

My first "nice watch" was a seadweller. I regret having traded it for my twotone sub 15 years ago.

The other option is to have the crystal replaced for one without the cyclops. Not sure if AD's will do this, but I know non-AD's who have. And you can keep the crystal with the cyclops in the event that you want to put it back or even sell it.

Thanks. I may ask my AD about it and see if they have a heart attack or not. I personally do not like the look of the cyclops.

I am assuming that is a coaster.

What is the material?

Are you interested in making for others?

Slate and yes I do limited custom work, on a variety of mediums, that is hunting and fishing focused. I do not take on HUGE jobs because it's a hobby.

The time in that specific coaster was the picture. It was created by me. That takes time and then to get it into the machine to look like that also takes A LOT of time. The processing and finishing is the easy part.

Some random BS I've been asked to do. The small chess/checkers set would be interesting on a piece of veg tan dyed leather board & w/pieces stained as a travel set. You could do the a Lion as King and Lioness as Queen, Cape as Bishops, Elephant as Rooks, Rhino as Knights and Leopards as Pawns as a unique example. I have done a lot of one off Whiskey decanter, glass and stone sets. Most people ask for bespoke stuff for their man caves or trophy rooms.

The watch strap is something I made for me and I make and sell them to others on as a hobby. The strap is my most comfortable leather strap for my wrist I designed if based on a set of features I wanted in a leather field/tool strap.

I don't sell copyrighted merch. This is just an example for my use testing designs.

I’m genuinely curious why you bought a Rolex but don’t understand the concept of this thread?

I see this specific thread to be about hunters having a chance to discuss what watch choices we make, and why. We have similar threads about clothing, rifles, ammo, boots, etc. Some personal choices for items we use are based on utility. Some are based on a higher art form within the same utility needs. I don’t own a Rolex, but I respect the quality that they deliver. My R8 doesn’t really shoot any better than my other rifles, but I like it more.
I chose an all black Tudor ceramic for my most recent hunting watch, simply because it is less shiny. It is also great at keeping accurate time. And, since I check the time often, I enjoy its appearance as well.
I’m sure you have a similar decision about which watch to wear when you go hunting and this thread is about what decision that was, and why.

Concept of WHAT ?? While a only recent follower of this site I see absolutely no relevance what so ever in "WHAT WATCH ONE WEARS" while hunting !!!!! Would it matters to others what brand underwear that I'm wearing while hunting in Africa ??? While new to Africa I've hunted in a multitude of states in the USA as well as providences in Eastern Canada at at no time did my colleagues or PH give a rats azz as to what watch that I was wearing as I harvested my trophies. In my opinion ( yours may vary ) a post like this has nothing to add to the topic of African Hunting but merely is a opportunity to let others know " what's thier personal self perceived worth" It reminds me of people standing in a circle comparing thier " junk " sizes so as to feel better about themselves.

My user name is because my son is known as little Kev (Junior) ans my being called as Big Kev. Unfortunately I have the Irish curse, but for what I lack in "junk" size I have a 7" tongue and I can breathe out of my ears !! I remember vividly that during my divorce proceedings over 40 years ago one of the things that my "soon to be Ex" was visitation rights to my face !!!!!

I'd suggest you actually read the original post. While you might have this rather bizarre notion of junk comparison, most of us following this thread have an interest in watches, time pieces, wearable wrist art, and enjoy seeing what others with a similar interest might indulge themselves in. The concept is really simple, if you have an interest, participation is fun. If you have no interest, and think it's a waste of time, then don't participate.
Just so you don't lump me in to your preconception of what this thread represents, I have an interest in fine watches, without the wherewithal to support yet another hobby. But it's been really intriguing to learn more about them from fellow hunters that can/do scratch the watch itch.
What it adds to the theme of AH is another area that like minded individuals can discuss something of common interest. Btw, if you're not into double rifles, I suggest you avoid that forum and the associated threads. It makes this one look tame. Your junk might really get embarrassed over there.
