Why Buy A Blaser K95?

Only saw this topic now. I have a K95 in 8x57jrs, love it more and more ! Just returned from a trip to Namibia where the rifle took 2x oryx and one eland bull. Lovely rifle to carry and recoil from the 200gr Swift Aframes is very easy to handle. Buy the rifle if you haven't yet !

Interesting eland...old injury. Glad you took him.

Thanks, was quite the tracking job. Walked on his tracks for about 3 hours before we saw him the first time and got a shot off.

As of yet, I haven’t bought a K95. But still interested in them. I got side tracked by a recent pronghorn hunt in New Mexico, so I was busy putting together a long range rig for that hunt. Now I’m gearing up for next year’s Elephant hunt, so the K95 will have to stay on the back burner for awhile. But if the right deal comes along, you never know….

A smart gun dealer should make an offer to the community. These types of chats on different guns inevitably lead many to buying another rifle. I bought my R8 because of the community’s endorsement. In fact, the site might even consider exploring the formation of a buying consortium to provide extra value to members. Natural next step with just a little extra work.

With my K95 (three frames, 6 barrels) I can swap barrels and/or scopes and they are all still dead on for any practical hunting purpose I may encounter here in FL. Same with the R8 barrels. Almost perfect reproducibility.

What calibers do your barrls have?

I haven't seen an octagonal and fluted barrel before. My K95 currently has 2 barrels...octagonal 308 and round 22 Hornet. It feels like a Kipplauf should have a metric barrel so that's a future consideration.

If I ever had the $$ to purchase one, it would be either one of these two. The other models, not so much.

K95 gear-I have .22 hornet(sighted), .243 win.(sighted), .270 win octagonal, 308 win, 7x65r ( don’t ask why) and 9.3x74r ( a true ass kicker!) Three wood frames (basic) and one new thumbhole inlayed pro synthetic. R8’s are .22 LR conversion, .300 WM and .375 H&H. BD14 .22 hornet/.308/20ga 3”.

And I thought I was a Blaser guy! Well played sir, well played.

Top Dog Guns Global always seems to have something K95 that's interesting if someone is looking.

Top Dog is where I got my 22 Hornet barrel from and he made me a good deal on it. He was also interesting to talk to on the phone and he is a big fan of African hunting.

@mikesheree
Ken @K95 has a beautiful wood K95 with multiple barrels. Absolutely magnificent but he won't donate it to me

I’ve always been somewhat intrigued by the looks of the Blaser K95, but until I got to handle one at SCI this year, I didn’t know how much I’d like them. Turns out I REALLY like them. And now I find myself talking myself into one. Not sure what caliber I’d start off with, but I’m thinking about a light caliber such as 7x57 or something similar, then adding a 9.3x74r in the future. For those of you who own one, what is your opinion?
Get a Hagn! Far nicer and no external showing pins or screws.

Why buy a Blaser K95? Why not?! Lovely rifles - accurate, reliable, nice looking. I’ve got two of them (one wooden one synthetic) with four barrels.

I went to the shop to order the wooden one in 5.6x50R, 30R Blaser and 9.3x74R. I was told it’d be a while and the shop happened to have a synthetic, leather covered 8x57JRS on the wall so I walked out with it to keep me going till the one I ordered showed up. My intention was to sell it once it did but since the barrels can be swapped between them I decided to keep it. Note - unlike with R8 there’s no guarantee barrel will fit a different receiver, gun smith fitting might be required.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)
