That is an awesome area for sure. Love Southwest MT...... The Madison, Ruby, Big Hole, Jefferson, Missouri, etc.... Love it up there! i couldn't do the winters though.

Hell, we call that the banana belt of Montana after growing up in western MT!

I spent the winter of 2010 living in Manhattan, while I worked in Bozeman. Living in my small 5th wheel RV, with temps dipping to -20 below.

6 months of torture. I was never so happy in my life to see the green grass of spring.

But I do love Montana. Just not the winter.

Had a buddy in West Yellowstone..... he told me that damn near every day of Winter, the nation's record low could/would be there. However, nobody is there to report it. Regularly, like -20...... with -50 not unheard of. F that noise!

Standing in the Blackhawk Mfg parking lot after a blizzard blew thru.

At least you can put cloths on and stay warm. :)

After my divorce, I went up to Montana, and spent 2 seasons working as head of maintenance on a big guest ranch, just outside of West Yellowstone by Hebgen Lake.

Absolutely amazing area. Not so much in the winter, unless you are there to snowmobile.

Fished just outside of Cameron a couple of times. Madison on down to the Henry's Fork in ID.

Have you ever been to the Grizzly bar & Grill in the Madison Valley? In addition to my ranch work, I worked 4 nights a week at the Grizzly. Some famous people stop in there on occasion.

We get heat warnings when it´s about 100º F or 38º C.

By the way, we have been through the hottest June in the last 52 years, and rainfall has been only 50 % of the average.

Not meaning to go off topic, but at the end of the 2011 season, my boss "Nick", gave me a bonus.

He had Dan Delekta of Beartooth custom rods present me with a custom Beartoorh 7'6 "- 3WT rod inscribed with my name, and the " Grizzly bar & grill 2011".

I thought it was a very nice gift.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
