Ok, but honestly, is 9,3x62 treated the same in Africa as .375H&H?
Is i9,3x62 legal for DG?
Bob you surprise me…i thought every caliber ever discussed always comes back to your 35 Whelen!!! lol!!!@Rule 303
While the 9.3x62 and 35 Whelen we I'll NEVER EQUAL the 375H&H in sheer muzzle energy there's a things called section density, bullet construction and velocity.
For the 375H&H to equal the sd of a 320gn 9.3x62 or a 310gn 35 cal you have to step upto a 350gn 375H&H.
With the old loads in the 375H&H the 9.3x62 was fully it's equal and better in the penetration stakes.
If you want a good read get hold of the 9.3x62 journal. It explains the benefits of the 9.3x62 over the 375H&H and the reasons a lot of PHs of yore loved the 9.3x62.

Nah, he finally saw the light! He's leaning towards or on a 243...Bob you surprise me…i thought every caliber ever discussed always comes back to your 35 Whelen!!! lol!!!
Ok, but for giggles we can add the .375 Ruger into the mix and really muff things up!!!Yes but you need to compare apples with apples, so you would need to compare the X64 with modern powders would you not.

Truth mate.@Rare Breed
As much as I love my 35 Whelen I known there's better big game rounds and worse ones but when it comes to versatility the Whelen covers a lot of bases. I can't afford a lot of guns so I make sure what I get will handle ANYTHING I care to hunt even DG in a pinch if I could.
To me the Whelen is the king of versatility light loads with handgun bullets or cast for small game. 225s for reach out and smack down on medium to large game. Then the big 275gn, 280s or 310s for bone crunching brute power that's easily managed. With the 250s it give reasonable range snd plenty of power up close and out yonder.
Bob
375 Ruger, 375 H&H same, same.Ok, but for giggles we can add the .375 Ruger into the mix and really muff things up!!!
@93marlinNah, he finally saw the light! He's leaning towards or on a 243...
So you are saying there is no difference between a 35 Whelen and a 375I defy any one to tell me the difference between a 9.3x62 loaded with a 286 Nosler and RL-17 or 16 on a buffalo, Hippo or Lion to a 375 H&H, both do a good job. My 9,3x62 shoots a 285 gr. bullet at the same velocity as my 375 shoots a 300 gr, bullet,, the difference of a 22 short!!! The 375 can cook up another 100 fps when loaded max, but nobody can tell by watching the shooting of the DG that there is a difference IMO..As I've aged the lighter recoil of the 9.3x62 is noticeable and appreciated..
So if I "put you down" with a 243WIN...will you die? Probably take a 35W to do the job on a manly man like you @Bob Nelson 35Whelen.@93marlin
Leaning towards it so I have something to hang onto so I don't fall over laughing at your comment. I don't want a case of 243itis, I may need to be put down if I get that.
Bob
What if you shot Townsend @Bob Nelson 35Whelen in the arse with his own .25-20 using an 86gr. Woodleigh Hydro? Would he die or just crawl to get his .35 WHELEN? Ha! Ha! Ha!So if I "put you down" with a 243WIN...will you die? Probably take a 35W to do the job on a manly man like you @Bob Nelson 35Whelen.
243WIN or 25-30BNW...either way, I'm not gonna be a happy camper. What if you shot Townsend @Bob Nelson 35Whelen in the arse with his own .25-20 using an 86gr. Woodleigh Hydro? Would he die or just crawl to get his .35 WHELEN? Ha! Ha! Ha!
To quote every hot rodder since the dawn of combustion engines...
"There is no replacement for displacement."
9.3mm does not equal .375 inch no matter how hard you try...physics still apply. Choose your cartridge wisely.
Well you are in total disagreement with a bloke I referred to in one of my earlier posts who has used both and claims the 9.3X62 in Not a 375 in use on animals and he has shot a metric shit ton of each game groups of pigs, horses and scrub cattle. It will not match it on paper, to me that is irrelevant, the real question is, will it match it in the field. Having used both, I say the answer is a resounding YES!
