Both Avatar 1 and 2, much like many fantasies, require imagination to appreciate. Excellent direction and CGI in both.

To round out my list in this group of favorites would be both Quigley Down Under and the Harry Potter series. Much like Tolkien, Rowling created an amazing story with Harry Potter. The late Alan Rickman was excellent in both Quigley and Harry Potter

I'll add a relatively unknown, low budget movie for contrast based on the true story of Homer Hickam growing up in a coal mining town in West Virginia. An American story

A lot of movies I've discredited, violent, terrible endings, go nowhere, etc. But yrs later or watching it several times, (open the mind). I've never developed quite an appreciation for the writing that goes into some film, Cohen Brothers, Sham M. Night Mylan, etc ...

Thought it was really good. Very few remakes are. The remake of “The Magnificent Seven” is an abomination.

Ron Stapleton was in Matewan. He was a local trucker and they liked his imposing presence and voice and hired him to be in the movie. He gets killed in a shootout. I knew him because he owed a trucking company I dealt with.

Not to cause any controversy but another great film maker id like to mention is Woody Allen. It's come to light in recent years that he's not everything Mia Farrow and the METo, every man on earth is a rapist movement has made him out to be. Ok. With that kinda said and out of the way he had a string of films from the mid 70s up until the 90s that were excellent , and still some great ones past that. One thing is say about his films is you definitely have to be older, approaching or in your 40s to appreciate there brilliance. Not only does he usually pay homage to great classic film motifes but he tells these stories that are so humanistic. There funny sad tragic and visiral sometimes all in one picture. Annie Hall, Broadway Danny Rose, Hannah and her sisters, Crimes and misdemeanors.

True, you never know about gems of entertainment and art.

Since the Coen brothers were mentioned, might as well remember ‘O Brother Where Art Thou’ and more recently ‘The Ballad of Buster Scruggs’. Both featured the unique talent of Tim Blake Nelson. Can’t help but laugh out loud and smile imaging Nelson playing the Runt From Reata Pass, aka the San Saba Songbird, in the Buster Scruggs mini production

That movie was hilarious .. They couldn't watch "The Godfather" because it started 3mins ago
