Politics

Agree. Some of my protestant cousins have actually dared to marry Catholics, much to the chagrin of their parents. One of my uncles never married. The woman he was most close to marrying was Catholic and it was for that reason he broke it off.

I personally don't ascribe to Catholic teachings, but I also don't let that impede being friends with Catholic people either. It's similar to not letting myself be so caught up in having a different opinion on politics than Democrats, yet there are those that I call friends. My mother as anti-Catholic church as she was, to her credit did not hate Catholic people, and in fact had several close Catholic friends.

Just my opinion, but amongst my mother and her family, while they had their disagreements with Catholic teachings, what concerned them far more was having the Pope as a sort of de facto ruler.

So the differences between Irish Catholics and the Protestants that primarily lived in the norther part of the country weren't really so much about church doctrine as much as in the end they really were still political in nature.

Watching that video about the Irish school teacher it seems quite clear church doctrine, Catholic or Protestant has much less influence on the island than what it once did.

Catholic Protestant devide was also a serious issue in Nova Scotia up until 30 or so years ago, more so in catholic communities than Protestant ones. Id attribute it more to the residual anger for the expulsion of the acadians who were French Catholics by the English and forced resettlement in Louisiana. Father fished for a gentleman in the 90s who was catholic and married outside the church to a baptist. They were literally forced out of the community by harassment. It also lead to pockets of interbreeding such as pubnico n.s. Where you have an entire population with predominantly two last names. The prevalent ones being D’eon and D’entremont this is partially due to isolation living on a small peninsula and partially due to a refusal by the local catholic priests to marry or give communion to those who married outside the church.

Well, fictional heroes can be added as well. UK has James Bond, and Sherlock Holmes, both of them have museums, and are part of cultural heritage.
I forgot to mention Col.Sanders. Very important warhero for many americans. He has created jobs for the food industry and in the medical industry. Not many can brag about this….oh…again I forgot the toughest of the bunch Rambo! …How could he be left out. He went to Hollywood to pursuit a carrier. what can we say? Hurra for all our heroes. What would the world have become without them you tell me…

You guys are way off the mark on American culture heros…

George Floyd
Trayvon Martin
Colin Kapernick
Dylan Mulvaney
Lia Thomas

These are the people the media and our politicians tell us we should emulate and herald…

A highly perceptive illustration of modern African governance

More frighteningly

It is beginning to resemble the current US administration

Your fearless leader and our fearless leader …

For entirely different reasons

Are going to leave West hugely damaged

As more information comes forward on “Signalgate”, it’s appearing more and more likely that the reporter got added by a bad actor. internal or external, not by waltz.

They have handed it over to the Musk team to learn where the Signal Veil was pierced.

They should be able to see if it was inside Signal, inside the US or outside. Not down to a specific person unfortunately.

When you have a holdover who is anti the new administration who is responsible for assembling the Signal group, it probably doesn't take much to change out a phone number for an individual who is supposed to be in the group for Goldberg's.

Hopefully it is as easy to figure out who made the changes.

At this point in Trump's first term, internal attacks had already taken out the National Security Advisor and effectively shut down the Attorney General. Compared to that Signalgate will be forgotten in a month.

Well, we live in strange times. But it has to be noted.
If "officially" you are pro transgender, pro lgbt, extreme pro eco, pro DEI, then you are also pro democratic, pro west and eventually anti Putin. That is how modern MSM narrative is formed.

And because the MAGA are against transgender, lgbtq+, eco and DEI by extension became pro Russia and anti-Ukraine because the other guys were against Putin and for Ukraine.

The "if the others are for it then we are against it" ideology is really hurting our country. We saw it during the Biden administration, and we are seeing it now.

Leftist slowly destroying Colorado.

"Senate Bill 3 would mandate new state training for Coloradans to purchase semiautomatic firearms, like AR-15 and AK-47 rifles"

Kidding aside, Sanders was an interesting character. Actually shot a man.

Nothing but class, calm, intelligence and American unity from modern day democrats.

"Crockett is already in hot water over other controversial recent comments such as calling for Elon Musk to be "taken down" and for Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, to be "knocked over the head, like hard."

Speaking at a benefit for the Human Rights Campaign in Los Angeles, Crockett mocked Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, whose legs were paralyzed in a running accident in 1984.

"We in these hot a-- Texas streets, honey. Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there, come on now! And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a-- mess, honey!" she said, laughing."

As both medical science and climate science are gradually freed from the censorship of the last couple of decades, I suspect we will see an ever increasing flood of peer reviewed evidence that populations truly were being fed a set of "Beliefs" rather than the results of scrupulously researched scientific conclusions. The same process has taken place in the social/cultural environment where nations are awakening to the catastrophic effect of unassimilable ethnic minorities and their impact on public safety and culture.

The recent release of Yale University's peer reviewed analysis of the adverse effects of the Covid vaccines seems to be opening the floodgates of what was essentially forbidden research for the better part of three years.

Peer reviewed research like that below is also beginning to lift the veil on what passes for a pseudo religious scientific climate belief rather than "settled science." Both the commentary and actual paper (link within) are worth reading - particularly by those so unquestionably devoted to their efforts to personally save the planet.

The public reaction to this growing and extremely healthy scientific skepticism of "settled science" will be interesting to observe. As Western societies have become ever more skeptical of the divine, the need for a "Belief" with a capital B has to be vested somewhere.

We see it in much of the discussion in this thread. Climate alarmists speak with a the arrogant certainty of the Roman Church shortly before Martin Luther nailed his theses in 1517. Go back several hundred posts and you will see the same unquestioning "Belief" in masks, vaccines, school closures etc. Others become committed in their "Belief" in a politician or political movement.

Because of such commitment to a "Belief," those who question those beliefs become an enemy imbued with all the evils of Satan. I can point to dozens of posts in this thread as illustrations.

The catch is that this works only so long as the skeptics and non-believers are kept silent. For a couple of decades scientific control was possible in this country thanks to a collective liberal ownership of the sources of information. However, like the scientific and intellectual blossoming of the reformation and enlightenment, that is changing and changing rapidly due to a new era of freedom of thought and expression happening first here in the US, but a movement that will likely spread throughout the West as Europe's ever more repressive efforts to dictate thought inevitably fail - perhaps dramatically.

Just piling on an Amen. Check out the recent, multiple studies on the inefficacy and net-harm of flu shots in addition. Also, RFK Jr. is working to release a new food pyramid that will rattle big processed food industrialists to the core. (I've not seen it, but I'll be prophetic...you shouldn't be eating a lot of seed oils and highly processed carbohydrates)

The pendulum is swinging back to full disclosure and actual science as pertains to health and nutrition.

I think its already largely forgotten.. and its only Wednesday...

This time around the administration is moving so quickly on so many things at once neither the media or the D's can keep up.. just about the time they get good and fired up about something or make an attempt to bring national focus onto an issue, another JDAM gets dropped and they're scrambling to cover that "story"...

He is definitely inside the opposition's OODA loop this go around.. and they cant seem to figure out how its happening or how to stop it..

Just another example of why I don't trust the CIA at all.

Here'a report from 1988 where they were STILL screwing around with remote viewing psychics. The claim was they found the Ark of the Covenant.

If any of you are history buffs or enjoy skeptical inquiry, you have to remember the Amazing Randi and his team of young practicing magicians just prior to this had made a complete mockery of the CIA for their paranormal research in partnership with Stanford University.

You'd expect Central Intelligence to be a bit smarter than to be conned by sorcerers, spoon benders, remove viewers, and other complete bunk that never stands up to the scientific method.

Good analysis.

When history looks back at the junk science of this century, the common denominator will be the appropriation of trillions of dollars from the public coffers into the hands of the acolytes promoting the science.

"Never let a crisis go to waste". If there isn't a crisis. Manufacture one.

Nothing surprises me with that agency. they have done and continue to do some great things for the country, but there are also some Lord of the Flies type behavior in a lot of the Agency
