Update from Joberg
We learned the reason for the Delta 200 flight turnaround and cancellation from the night before our flight. It was a medical emergency and upon returning the crew timed out.
Luckily, our Delta 200 departed on time Thursday night. We flew down the coast of Brazil before turning east. We had 50-90 mph tailwinds and arrived JNB at 6:30pm local, about 30 minutes early.
The immigration line was slow slow due to some computer problems. We were near the front of a very long line and it took us 2 hours to get through. Our bags were waiting for us, already unloaded off the carousel. We went out into the arrival area and a representative from @Riflepermits met us and took us to the SAPS office. There were probably 20 rifle cases lined up and a couple other guys waiting there. We grabbed our case, unlocked it, the serial number was verified and we were good to go. They did not check the ammunition box.
Walked over to the City Lodge and got checked in. Went to the restaurant for a light dinner and then it was a shower and go to bed around 10pm.
We have an 11:30am flight today (Saturday) for the 2 hour trip to Lusaka. We opted not to take the 6am and not be rushed. It’s nice to be retired and not having to be in a rush due to limited vacation time. We’ll spend one night in Lusaka and start the 5 hour drive to Takeri with @spiket early Sunday morning.
